About an hour after we come home, Momma arrives. She immediately sits down at the kitchen table to go through my pictures of the wedding, "Where did you get that dress?" she asks.
"Oh, it was Dom's sister-in-law's dress. Her name is Valentina." I tell her.
She gazes at the pictures in awe, "It looks stunning on you." She says.
I point out all of Dom's family to her in the pictures as tears begin to well in her eyes, "Momma, are you okay?" I ask.
She wipes the tears with her thumb, "Yes, I'm fine, darling. I'm just so happy for you. This is a dream. The vineyard is stunning."
Dom hands over a tissue and leans in to kiss her on the cheek; she reaches out to pat his arm, "You two are gonna make me some beautiful grandbabies."
Dom and I begin to chuckle, "Dom's mom already mentioned she was excited about that." I reply.
"Are you two going to try right away or wait?" she asks.
I glance at Dom; he smiles warmly at me, "We are starting right away."
"Well, I couldn't be happier for you, but what are you going to do about the plans for your business Maggie? Do you plan to put that on the back burner for now?" she asks.
I sit back and cross my arms over my chest, "I think it's just on hold for a little bit. I don't quite have enough money saved to get it going just yet. I think it will take another year or two of saving to get things rolling anyway."
She reaches out for my hand, "Whatever you guys decide, I am supportive of. I'm happy for you both. Truly I am."
"Oh, Dylan called me; he wasn't too happy that we went and got married without the family being present."
She rolls her eyes and snickers, "Oh, he will get over it. He loves you, and he's very protective of you. You do you, darlin. Live your life, and don't worry about anyone else."
I excitedly reach my hand out and smack it on the table, "Momma, not to change the subject, but you will never guess who we ran into at the market."
"Who?" she asks.
"Nate and Lola," I reply.
She rolls her eyes, "Oh lord."
I glance at Dom; he begins to chuckle, "Needless to say, it was a bit awkward." I tell her.
"Well, I'm sure it was. Did you tell him that you are married now?" she asks.
"Of course," I reply.
Dom chimes in, "That boy acts like a child every time I see him."
Momma reaches out and pats Dom on the shoulder and chuckles aloud, "Well, you two are going to be the talk of the town, so be prepared."
Dom shakes his head, "I am sure of it."
We enjoy dinner together and visit a bit longer before Momma heads home. Once she leaves, I rush back to our bedroom and pull the bottom drawer out of my jewelry box to find the locket tucked away that Nate's Mom picked out for me. I then bring it with me to the kitchen table, set it down before grabbing a pair of scissors from the kitchen drawer, and set them down on the table next to the locket. Dom eyes me curiously as I open the locket and pull the picture of Nate out and throw it in the garbage, "What are you doing, Maggie?" he asks.
"I got this locket a couple of Christmas's ago. I was told that you put a picture of your true love in here, and that way, they will always be with you."
