Once acquainted, Olen decided he wanted to know more about the gorgeous young girl from the other side.

"So, what's life like over there then?" He asked her and unexpectedly, a small frown creased between her brows.

"It's good I guess, I mean we have plenty of everything." She shrugged meekly, making him realise there was more she wanted to say but was scared to seem rude or boastful.

"What's wrong?" He questioned, still seeing the girl with a frown on her face.

"Well, sometimes I feel like we have too much," she shrugs before continuing, "sometimes, I can't help but feel as though we are being greedy, that there are people who need the things that we can get a hold of instantly, a whole lot more than we do." She explained, a look of guilt washing over her face as she looked shamefully up at the poor boy.

"You shouldn't feel that way Etta, it isn't your fault that our lives are like this! This border has been up for centuries separating the upper and lower classes, we're used to not having a lot." He comforted the girl through the fence, a whole lot happier about the situation than he should have been.

"But you shouldn't be used to it!" She retorted making his eyes widen at her sudden outburst, "The country of Abonisah shouldn't be this way, none of this should be this way! This border is just an excuse for the wealthy to think that they are better than the poor but we are all human, how are we any better than you, when we don't work for a single thing we have?"

Olen sat opposite Etta, eyebrows raised in shock however the gears inside his head turning at what she had just said. She was right, it shouldn't have been this way; none of it should have been this way and yet, it was.

"You're right," he sighed as she calmed down slightly, "It shouldn't be like this, we should be able to talk without a wire fence between us. We should be able to go to school and you should be allowed to work if you wanted to."

"Just imagine this Olen, a world were the poor and rich lived and worked along side. We'd live in a united community without discrimination or abuse and we could get whatever we'd want out of life."

"We could have streets that weren't disease ridden and nobody would be suffering. The rulers would be kind and care for their people, nobody would be judged based from social status." he added.

"And, above all, our lives wouldn't be planned out depending on which side you are born." Etta finished.

Etta and Olen both smiled at the thought, yet they both knew it would never happen; it simply couldn't. They knew that the monarchy had strong beliefs and that it would take centuries to change them. They knew that the social hierarchy in Abonisah was even stronger and even without a monarchy, it would be hard to sway the upper class opinions. Yet they still imagined, their faces wearing matching childish grins as they glanced at each other before Etta's started to fade.

"I just wish that I could sway my parents in that direction but it'd never happen, they just shut me down or ignore my ideas." She sighed however Olen just grew confused.

"Your parents? What could they do?"

"Olen, my parents are Queen Acadia and King Isaiah." She admitted softly, hoping that her statement would not change the boy's opinion of her.

"So, you're a princess?" He stuttered, wide eyed in shock.

"Yeah, just please don't treat me differently."she trailed off, a sad tone lacing her voice as she thought about times when people would use her for her status and only be her friend for that reason alone before they would end up betraying her in some sort of way.

"Of course I wouldn't Etta, I just didn't know I was talking to royalty," he teased, a small smirk on his face making her giggle to herself at how cute he looked.

"You know, I think we'll be good friends." She decided and he smiled at her,

"I've, well, I've never had a friend before."

"Well, Olen Jay Brookes, now you do." She smiled back at him making his cheeks tint pink.

Their conversation was interrupted by a deep voice coming from somewhere behind Olen, his grin instantly faded as he worriedly looked behind him and back to Etta.

"Where are you, boy? You've yet to finish the job and we trade tonight!"

"Etta, you need to go." Olen said quickly, worried for the young girl across the fence.

"But, what about you?" She exclaimed, concerned for her new friends safety.

"Don't worry about me, I'll be fine okay? We can meet up again - same spot." He hurriedly said and she wasted no time replying,

"Tonight?"

"No!" He quickly cut her off, "Not tonight, you can't come tonight. Tomorrow?"

"Okay, but why not tonight? Is everything okay?" She asked gently.

"Yeah, I'll explain tomorrow, just meet me here tomorrow at erm," he pauses thinking of how he will tell the time without a watch.

As if reading his mind, Etta pulls out an antique golden pocket watch, " Here, meet me at 8am tomorrow" She stated before sliding the watch under the fence.

"Okay, now I really have to go. See you tomorrow, Etta Ophelia Fawn."

"Goodbye Olen Jay Brookes" and with that he fled in the opposite direction, the princess watching as he went with a smile gracing her face lightly.
