I opened my eyes.

Everything was black.

I looked around me.

Where am I?

I then remembered what I did earlier.

It's my birthday and I was alone in the library wanting to get new books when I heard a voice calling me... the book glowed..

I looked down.

Where's the book?

My thoughts were interruped by a loud thud beside me.

I almost screamed in shock.

It was probably the hideous creature I have ever seen. Lying face down, the first thing I noticed was its torned large bat-like wings. Tall yet scrawny body... I can see the rib cages. The back of its head was bald but full of oddly looking lumps. For some reason, its skin was burnt but shiny.

Perhaps one of the mythical creatures? I actually have never seen one. Even the books didn't provide any descriptions or illustrations of them. I am not even sure if anyone I know have seen them in real life.

I used to imagine them and here I am seeing one, for the first time.

A dream?

My attention was caught by the black smoke that had enveloped the surroundings. My vision was blurry due to it but I can see bodies around my perimeter. All facing down, motionless.

Then, slowly the mist started to clear up. My eyes widened at the scene. There were probably hundreds of lifeless bodies all around the area I am in.

It seems like I am in the middle of the big area surrounded by forests.

Suddenly, the lifeless bodies started to dissipate... small particles rise up towards the sky until every single one of the creatures disappeared.

What?

It was the first time I have seen nor heard of this phenomenon.

Wait... I heard of this from someone before...

Up ahead, I saw a lone figure, a man was standing while looking at the skies.

Was he already here before the creatures died?

Did he kill them?

Noticing him still looking up, I also glanced up and saw the dark rain clouds about to burst anytime.

Oh my... I need to find shelter quick. I decided to run towards the forests.

But my body won't move... and gradually my eyes went back to the man, who was still standing in the same position.

What's wrong with my body?

But more than that...

What is happening here?

Shortly, the rain came. I sighed in defeat expecting to get soaked. But not a single drop was felt on my body. I looked at the man, he was still there looking up. But he was soaked.

How come I am not?

Wait....am I dead?

I looked at my body. It looks normal though... I just can't move it except my head.

"Sir!"

A voice rang, louder than the rain.

I noticed another man emerge out of the forests on my right, limping. He was probably in his late fifties, wearing a dark red robe with golden accents on it. His long grey hair was shriveled and wet because of the rain. The old man looked very tired. Seeing him limping made me want to help him but I can't move my body at all.
