A small glint of smile appeared on his face. I can clearly see tiredness, pain, and loneliness that came with that smile.

He slumped to the ground with his head down.

Zhunn....

I was teary eyed. I didn't know why but deep inside I felt the things he had gone through. Tears were pouring down my face.

I can't even wipe my tears.

"As our gratitude to you dear warrior, for all the things we have put you through, we will give you a reward."

The voice of the gods echoed through the forest.

Zhunn looked up to the skies again.

"Re... reward?"

"Yes. A choice..."

I saw the man bolting up in astonishment. I, too, widened my eyes.

Choice. What could it be?

"Please tell me what it is?"

There was a few seconds of silence before the voice finally replied.

"A choice to remain or to go back...."

Remain... go back? Where? In the books and stories, it was never mentioned where Zhunn was born or where he lived.

I noticed Zhunn's yet again surprised face but I also notice a little bit of excitement.

"You mean I can go back to earth?"

Earth? Where is that? I never heard of that place before.

"Yes."

"Then please.... I want to go home."

"Then we grant you with your choice."

Suddenly, the bright light became brighter and brighter until it totally engulfed us.

---------------

I slowly opened my eyes to the morning sunshine. It was a cold yet sunny day in winter.

Oh my god. I overslept.

Glancing at the clock, it was almost 9 o'clock. I wanted to stay under the futon on this cold morning and sleep some more but I need to get up now. I hurriedly kept my beddings, blanket, and pillows inside the closet and ran to the bathroom. I am an early riser but last night I got so engrossed in reading those books again. After some personal hygiene, I changed my clothes and went to the kitchen.

Today, is the first day of our winter break and also my 17th birthday. I hurriedly entered the kitchen to the smell of delicious toast.

"Good morning Dad, Mom, and Grandma." I greeted and bowed to them. I saw my family eating late breakfast as well.

"Good morning and Happy Birthday!" They greeted in unison. Such a good start of my day, despite waking up late. I saw my favorite breakfast laid on the table, butter toast and eggs. I wasn't able to contain my excitement.

"Itadakimasu."

My mom just chuckled. "Eat up. You need to help Dad clean the outhouse today."

"Sorry about this dear, especially on your birthday." My dad looked at me apologetically. "I need you to clean the 2 rooms there as usual. Since we will be meeting more visitors now that winter break has started." Dad smiled at me.

"Of course Dad. No worries. I am on my break too." I smiled.

"As a reward, I will let you have your free time after lunch. You can do whatever you want." My dad winked.
