I can hear faint voices around me.
"The doctor said she didn't sustain any injuries."
"What about the priest?"
"He said, she's just unconscious. No abnormalities were detected in her."
"But she has been sleeping for almost 2 days now."
"I know dear."
"Maybe we need to postpone her coming-of-age ceremony."
Wait.. Mom, Dad....
I tried to raise my arms. I felt my hands move.
I heard my mom cry. "Dear... our daughter is awake."
I opened my eyes and saw familiar surroundings. I am back in my bedroom. Looking around, I saw my mom with tears in her eyes, clasping on my hand. And my dad, beside her looking at me with worry.
"Mom, Dad, what happened?"
My mom wept so loud that there was a loud commotion outside the door.
"Duke, Duchess, we are coming in."
I saw our butler, Kalid, and Ruth, and other maids enter my bedroom. They gasped seeing that I have woken up. I saw Ruth and my other maids crying.
I was told of what happened. Ruth, who informed my family of my late arrival, became worried as I was taking longer than expected and decided to check on me. She came across Norman, who had just come back from his lunchbreak and both of them searched for me inside the library. They saw me, lying on the floor unconscious, with a book clutched to my chest. They immediately alerted my parents and I was carried to my room. The family doctors and the high priest of the Dukedom had checked on me and said that there was nothing wrong with my body. I didn't sustain any injuries. No mana abnormalities detected. I was unconscious for almost 2 days.
"Zen..."
Roux was panting as he got near my bed. He gently held my hand. He was sweating profusely. He looked like he just came from his training.
"I came as soon as I heard. How are you?"
I gently smiled. He had a worried expression, same as the people around me.
"I am feeling better. Please don't worry."
I can feel the atmosphere in the room lightening up.
Despite my insistence that I am feeling better, the Duke ordered for my dinner to be eaten in bed, with Ruth to help me.
It was almost bedtime. I had changed into my dressing gown when I heard a knock on the door. Ruth immediately went outside to check.
"It is Norman, milady."
I placed a warm shawl to cover my dressing gown before sitting on the couch. "Let him in."
Upon coming in, Norman deeply bowed infront of me.
"It is good to see milady recover. My apologies for this late visit."
"It's alright. Thank you. What can I do for you, Norman?"
He then handed me a book. No. He handed me the glowing book that I was holding on before I passed out.
"I believe this book is very important to you as we had the difficulty of removing it from your grasp when we carried you here."
I felt a strange feeling as I touched the book. It was an old book with no title.
"The Duchess recognized this book as her lost family heirloom and has asked me to give this to you personally."
"It's getting late. I am glad to see you well milady." With that, Norman excused himself.
As I sat on my bed, I remembered my mom telling me that no one knew the content of this book as it was written in an ancient language. Placing the candlestick nearer on my bookstand, I opened the book.
Wait... it's in Kanji?
Suddenly, I remembered my past life. That's right. I was Sena Midori, the successor of my great ancestor Jun-ya Midori. I was asked to be reincarnated into the world that needed me.
So this, right now, is the world in the books?
Wait what? Why can I only remember this now? All my life, I thought I was Arzen Del Vaughn.
Oh my god.
With mixed emotions, my eyes began to wander to the familiar letters in the first page of the book.
This is my life here on this other world. I, Jun-ya Midori, has been transported here as a warrior named Zhunn...
Wait... grandpa Jun-ya was Zhunn?
So it means... I am Zhunn's bloodline?
My head started to ache. I can't piece the two together.
Arzen Del Vaughn and Zhunn...
"Seems like you need my enlightenment..."
