(13) Staying Together

Two days later 

The Rogers and The Barnes went to North Carolina to visit Steve and Peggy. James also told his brother while he was there he would check in on his nephews and meet his great nephew and niece. 

Katie was there as well they were all enjoying lunch when she felt hands over her eyes. "Guess who Katie bug?" Bucky whispered as she was getting more food. 

She turned around. "I found you.." he said 

James came in when he heard him. "Son what are you doing here?" James said 

"Me and Katie have some news. And she told where she would be once I was approved for leave time." He said as he made a plate. 

James called everyone in. 

"Go ahead son." James said 

Bucky took a deep breathe. "Katie is pregnant..with twins. My twins.." Bucky said 

"See this is why I told your daddy to tell you to hold off on the papers. But nobody listens to me do they?" Winnie said 

"Well you two definitely can't go through with the annulment now." James said 

"Just as I thought you took advantage of her when she was drunk and now look what you have done." Steve said 

"Steve.." Peggy whispered 

"Well Katie you might as well call the college and sign up for online classes. Cause you are going to be going to live with your husband." Joe said 

"You need to call your superiors James let them know your wife is coming home with you." James said 

Katie looked down then slowly laid her plate on the counter and walked out. 

"I'm gonna go talk to her." Bucky said 

"James, you two are staying together. You are not bailing on her I didn't raise you like that. You may not love each other now but maybe with time you two will grow to love." James said 

"Yeah." He said as he walked out. 

He found Katie on the porch swing, he sat down beside her. 

"Come here.." he said as he pulled her closer. 

"It's okay..but here's the thing. Next month I'll be leaving for 5 months. I'll be back right before Christmas. But you will have your sister in law Quinn there and Sam's fiancé Cheyenne. You aren't going to be alone." He said 

She looked down.

"We have to try and make this work okay?" He said 

He wiped a tear that fell down her cheek. "Not just for us not just for our families but for them too." He said as he placed his hand on her stomach. 

"Okay." She whispered 

"Now I'm going to do something that we haven't done sober." He said 

She looked at him confused but then realized what he meant. He gently kissed her lips she began to kiss back. They began to make out as he moaned. He broke the kiss and stared into her eyes with lust filled eyes. 

"God you are an amazing kisser." He whispered 

When the families returned to NY Bucky asked Parker to help him find Katie a ring. After they were done and had ordered her ring. They were eating hot dogs in the park.

"Be good to her James." She said 

"I will PJ." He said as he took a bite.

"She's been hurt to James. So please be careful with her heart." She said 

"Parker what are you not telling me?" He said 

"Sage's older brother Xavier broke her. They dated for six years..you know him he's like two years older than us. He told her that he could wait till marriage. Gave her a promise ring and everything. We found him in bed with another girl last year. She claimed she was his girlfriend and he had the gall to tell Katie that he as a man had needs and that he couldn't wait forever." Parker said 

Bucky looked down. "Parker I've been in her shoes I would never wish that pain on anyone." He said 

"Good. CAuse I would totally kick your ass if you did." She said 

"I'm still a lot bigger than you." He said as they left the park. 

The next day Katie along with two big suitcases left the life she's always in known in NY. Bucky held her hand as they made their flight to Puerto Rico. Bucky introduced her to his superiors. 

1st Lt Sean Baker and 2nd Lt David Willows. They had paperwork ready for her to fill out about herself so she could be on Bucky's insurance. She was also added to his will and benefits for everything should happen to him. 

"The house will be ready for you all in the next several days. It's on officer row in the married section. The wives will make you feel right home Mrs Barnes." said 1st Lt Baker 

"Staff Sgt Barnes can show you around. So you know your way around the base." 2nd Lt Willows said.

"Thank you sir." Bucky said as they left. 

Bucky had been living in the single quarters since the divorce. Once they got her stuff in his quarters till the house was ready. They walked all over the base and he showed her around. They had dinner with Sam and Cheyenne.
