(18) Boys!

1 month and half later

Katie flew into NY for her parents anniversary and her mom's birthday. They were also having an early Thanksgiving since Katie was coming back in for Christmas. Sarah didn't want her flying to much near the end of her pregnancy. 

Katie was in her old bedroom at her parents. She and Bucky were video chatting. 

"Baby you are being quiet." He said 

"I just miss you..did you know that there was like three widows now. And they all live on our street. I'm scared everytime someone knocks on the door. When I see the red car..and I hate being on the base. Arielle and Madison pointed out the other day that we don't have any photos on the wall..especially wedding photos they thought it was odd." She said as she wiped her face. 

"Katie baby breathe okay. I know we don't have photos..I mean we do but I don't think we should hang them up. And yes I know you are scared baby I've on your side of the fence. I remember growing up till I was about 9 on bases. The red car use to scare me when dad would be gone. I only have two months left and I'll be home. But I have to go baby I love you." He said 

"I love you too." She said as she looked down. 

She closed her laptop she looked behind her and heard shuffling. Sarah and Joe had came in along with Parker. 

"Come on we have surprise downstairs." Parker said 

"Parker I'm not up for surprises. I just wish that everyone would give me a little space." She said as Parker dragged her. 

In the basement of her parents house had been turned into a military themed gender reveal. 

Winnie looked at Sarah. "Is she okay?" 

"No..she misses your son. And I feel like maybe right now was not a good time to pick a military theme." Sarah said 

Katie tried to have a good time everyone went outside. Joe showed her how the fake gender reveal grenades worked. She threw them both and they both busted out blue smoke. 

"Boys!!" Everyone yelled

"We are having boys baby!" She heard from Parker's phone. 

She saw Bucky with Sam and a few others he was close too in his platoon. 

"Thanks for the party mom." She said as she went inside

"Baby.." Bucky said 

Bucky ended the call and left the tent ready to fall apart. He got in his base tent and sat against his cot with his back against the entrance and broke into tears. Sam came in

"Barnes.." Sam said 

Bucky wiped his face and did his best to tuck it all back in. He stood up. 

"Yeah what do you need." He said as he sniffled. 

"It's just us. What's wrong?" Sam said 

"My wife is hurting and I can't be there for her cause my job requires me here. I love her Sam and I can't stand to see her like this." Bucky said 

"I know this sucks. And I know today is one of those days where you should of been with her. But you gotta remember she is who you are doing this for. I hate being away from Cheyenne you don't think there is days where she lets it all out. But my girl is strong and so is Katie she's just having an emotional day. It makes it worse that her hormones are all jacked up cause she's pregnant." Sam said 

"Yeah." Bucky said as he looked down. 

As they left the tent they had no idea that Silas had been listening. He realized that he needed to cut some slack off Bucky. He clearly loves his sister and isn't being a total douche.
