THE record player was lying in the middle of the room filled with a few boxes. Azizah was holding a cup of tea in her hands as she looked through the room. Outside was a minivan she had rented for a day. Putting the cup onto the ground, she lifted one of the cartons and walked downstairs. The minivan was already open and Azizah put it neatly in.For the majority of the morning, the petite was climbing the stairs up and down. With the last box in the car, she closed the door and walked up for the last check-up. The muddy white coloured walls stared right back at her, reminding her of the old days. Of years ago, when they had first rented it together.
She loved to love, she loved all the feelings that made her get carried away. But when the things you love the most are gone, the reminiscing love leaves such a big hole that it burns.
The cup of tea was laying on the floor. With ballerinas on, she walked to it and picked it. A white coloured cup with black font. She traced the carved letters. "To The Best Wife Ever - Yours Truly," she whispered as her eyes began to sting. Blinking quickly, she took the cup with her and locked the apartment. Leaving the keys at the janitors' mailbox, she got into the van and drove off to a garage she had rented.
After successfully transferring the few belongings of hers into the rented garage, she drove off to her shop. She had ordered a company to clean the interior, therefore, she was met with an empty sight. Except for the small wooden chair beside the wall with her briefcase on it. She had gone through the papers Taehyung had given her. At first, she was wary of the confidentiality agreement he wanted her to sign. It made her uneasy but then she was reminded who the buyer was. After all, one search for the man's name on the internet and she found tons of fans who were ready to do anything to get an insight into his private life. But, he chose it himself. So there was no need to pity his life. She needed to focus on her own if she wanted to survive. Did she want to survive, though? Shaking her head, she took the pen attached to the file and got off the chair to kneel in front of it. Putting the paper on it, she took a deep breath. "275.000.000 KRW*, here we go."
The sight of her signature in black ink somehow gave her a sense of comfort. Everything was sold off now, gone. The shop, the apartment, her husband and her son. She had given up on everything - and she hated herself for it.
"Nice to see you again, Mr Kim" she shook his head and he furrowed his eyebrow shortly before chuckling. "The pleasure is mine, Ms Oe"
Seating themselves on the same table they sat at the day before, Taehyung watched her. The way her hair was put into a tight low ponytail. Her eyebrows were neatly done, lips coloured with the prettiest shade of maroon he could think of and she was dressed in a comfortable oversized suit. He had followed her order of a cup of green tea once more and as they saw the waitress walk off, Azizah opened her briefcase and got out the papers once more.
"I signed them." Perplexed, Taehyung watched her shove the documents towards him. "Really?"
Nodding, she fished out the keys out of her jacket pocket and handed them out to him.
"These are all the keys. This one is for the main entrance." Pointing at the biggest squared key, she continued. "Next to it are the two keys for the staff room, the key for the mailbox and this is a universal key," she explained whilst pointing at the different formed keys.
Scratching her neck, she silenced for a second. "Did I forget anything?"
"To breathe?" Azizah looked up to see him smiling sheepishly.
"Thank you, Azizah." She wettened her lips as the waitress brought their cups. Thanking her, Azizah took a sip from the hot beverage. He opened the papers and searched for her signature. Opon finding it, he looked up before closing the file and packing it. He read through the handover protocol and signed it. "Wait, you do not wish to see the ground floor once more?"
He smiled as laid his gaze on her. "It won't be needed. I trust you." Fool, Azizah thought.
"I feel very much honoured to have gained your trust in the short hours of our meetings so far but it also makes me belief you are a fool to trust so easily." There was nothing to be astouned by but still, with every word she said, he couldn't help but be amazed.
"Or maybe it makes me a believer and a good reader." He said with a deep voice that made her all fuzzy. She shrugged her shoulder before handing over the key chain. "I believe that's all."
Smiling, she picked up the cup. "I guess so. So, where are you heading now?" Not expecting him to engaged in any further conversation nor having any want to extend it as well, she lied.
"I'm actually expected somewhere in a few and you?"
"My time-off has started, I have all the time in the world." he answered with a soft smile that made her truly believe he was happy and eenjoyimg life.
All she could reply to that were the simplest but her honest thoughts. "That must be nice."
