"Sojiro...I don't think I'm going to live much longer." Wakaba stated.
Sojiro chuckled. "What are you talking about?"
The two sat in Cafe Leblanc, alone. It had been a year since the arrest of Yoru Sutoka, and since then life had been calm. Wakaba continued on her research, Futaba continued becoming better at hacking, and Sojiro kept making curry.
Unknown to the two, Keiji stood behind the door, hearing their short conversation. It was time. It was time that Futaba's mother would die. Wakaba didn't have much time left.
If Keiji remembered correctly, then she would be dead tomorrow. In the game, Sojiro brushed her statement off as a joke. Then she died.
Keiji tightened his fists. It had to happen. Otherwise Futaba may never become a Phantom Thief. But it wasn't fair. Wakaba didn't deserve to die. Futaba didn't deserve to go through that pain.
They didn't deserve the destruction of their life. And it was all because of Shido. That man, who had ruined so many lives. But Keiji couldn't interfere. Or else the world would be destroyed.
Keiji's fists tightened, almost enough to drip blood. He couldn't. But memories of Wakaba flashed through his head, of the time he had spent with her. Then came memories of Futaba.
Keiji was a fool. He knew this. He knew this when he ran away from Leblanc. He knew this when he headed back to the Metaverse. He knew this, when he decided that tomorrow he would save Wakaba, and not let two lives be destroyed. Not when he could stop it.
Keiji approached the outside of the subway, using his phone to enter the Metaverse. As the red and black globs swarmed his vision, they slowly disappeared, revealing Keiji in his Metaverse outfit, back outside of Mementos.
Heading down, he walked through to the first floor of Mementos. Arriving, he grinned. It was time for him to grind again.
After the last year, Keiji had become much stronger than before. Running through the tunnels, he rushed a shadow. Jumping into them, he ripped off their mask, causing them to explode in a black and red liquid, revealing their true form.
Four floating pumpkins with witch hats holding lanterns appeared. "Persona!" Yelled Keiji
Behind him, in a burst of blue flames appeared his persona Cooper. "Maeiga!" He shouted. Cooper extended his arm, releasing a giant wave of black and red fire, releasing a large blow on the shadows, taking them out.
In over a year Keiji had leveled up Cooper enough that he had unlocked the medium grade damage curse spells.
The three shadows were wiped out, letting Keiji move on. As he encountered his next shadow, it's true form revealed two pixies, this time he pulled of a gun strapped to his back. Holding it, his new gun was a sniper rifle.
Shooting it, with his only two shots the two shadows were destroyed. He had bought the model sniper from Iwai. It was expensive, but it was worth it. They called it The Dealmaker.
Hiding it was a pain though. Keiji had bought a guitar case to hide it in. He also bought a guitar so that he wouldn't be suspicious. He didn't want his parents to find out he was risking his life.
As for his guitar case, he usually just left it by the entrance of Mementos. There was no one to steal it after all, so he had no worries. He placed the gun on his back, ready to continue.
Keiji continued to move through Mementos, fighting the shadows that had grown weak. It was now more practicing fighting than trying to level up. He rarely levels up anymore, and he couldn't go down to a lower path of Mementos. The Phantom Thieves needed to become recognized for that.
