Author's note: First time meeting his s/o's dad, it doesn't go well etc, etc

"Nervous?" you asked as you knocked.

"Nah, not at all" Kaminari said with a smile, but you could see the unease in his eyes.

Kaminari had never really officially met the parents of anyone he had dated, not that he had dated many people anyway. However, he wasn't at all prepared for what was about to come.

You didn't have the best relationship with your dad, but it wasn't that bad either, but you were still nervous. You hoped, your dad wanted the best for you, but he didn't really consider what you wanted. You didn't really have anymore time to think about how the meeting would go though, since your dad came to open the door.

"Good you're here, the food is almost ready" your dad said, and looked at you with a smile. "And you must be Denki" he said to Kaminari, still keeping up the smile, but his eyes looked cold.

"Yes sir, it's nice to meet you" he said and shook your father's hand.

You and Denki stepped into the house and took your shoes and jackets off. Kaminari helped you and your dad to set the table and you all sat down since the food was ready to eat.

"So, Denki, are you on the support course as well?" your father asked while taking a bite of his food.

"No, I'm on the hero course" he answered politely.

"You're not one of those stuck up kids that thinks he's better than everyone else just because you're on the hero course are you?" your father asked passive aggressively.

Kaminari was quite taken aback by the hostility in your father's voice. He didn't think he had done anything to earn that. He decided to brush past it and just answer.

"No sir, none of my classmates are"

"Dad, could you not?" you said and grabbed Kaminari's hand under the table, since you could see he was clearly uncomfortable.

"What? I'm just making conversation" your dad said, trying to sound innocent. "If you're uncomfortable with this, I can change the subject, would that be okay with you?"

"Please do"

"Alright, so Denki, what makes you think you're worthy of dating my kid?"

"What?" Kaminari felt like he had to have heard wrong.

"Oh so you're deaf as well as an idiot? What makes you worthy of dating my kid?"

"Okay, that's it" you said, slammed your hands to the table and got up. "We're leaving"

"Did I say something wrong?" your father asked, faking innocence.

"Did you say something wrong?" you repeated, not believing what you were hearing. "You called my BF an idiot!"

Kaminari was just watching as you went off on your father. He didn't know what he should say, so he just kind of awkwardly sat there, but he couldn't help but think, what if your father was right? What if he wasn't good enough for you?

"Well he sure as hell is one if he thinks he can date you without my approval"

"For fuck's sake dad! You don't own me, I can make my own damn decisions and I don't need your input on who I date" you said as you grabbed Kaminari's hand and started leading him to the front door.

"He is a bad influence on you. You never used to argue with me" your dad said, clearly trying to make you feel bad.

You didn't answer anymore, just huffed and muttered something to yourself that Kaminari couldn't quite make out. You just slammed the door shut behind you as the two of you left.

Kaminari was uncharacteristically quiet, which you mentioned as soon as you had shut the door.

"I'm... sorry about that" you said.

"Is he right though? Am I good enough to date you" Kaminari sighed and rubbed the back of his neck.

"Why would you even ask that? Of course you are"

"It's just that I know I'm not the smartest or strongest guy around and you're like... amazing all around"

"Dude, I can't even whistle"

"You can't?" Kaminari asked with an amused smirk.

"There's that smile I was looking for" you said and kissed him on the cheek hesitantly.

Kaminari appreciated you distracting him from the thought of him not being good enough for you, but now that it had been put into his head, he couldn't seem to get rid of it. The thought just kept nagging at him in the back of his mind.
