Y/n and Charley walked through one of the jewelry stores in Lincoln after Y/n had begged Charley to go with her. The two had just become friends and on the days that both of them had off from work they would wander through the town looking inside stores and such hoping they would have enough money some day to get what they wanted so bad.
"Do you see how pretty that ring is?" Y/n asked pointing to a wire wrapped ring with a blue crystal on it.
"Yeah it's a beauty." Charley said admiring it as well.
Y/n went to keep moving down the different aisles but was confused when Charley didn't follow her.
"How much is that ring right there?" Charley asked the owner of the shop.
"That would be ten bucks." the owner replied and Charley reached into his pocket to get money.
"Oh no Charley put your money away you don't need to get it." Y/n said try to make him not get it for her.
"I'm sorry Y/n but I'm afraid I'm still going to get it even if you try to stop me." Charely said with a bit of a smile.
"You know what you remind me of?" Y/n said pushing one of her curled hairs over her shoulder.
"Now what would that be?" Charley said handing her the gorgeous ring.
"You remind of a knight in shining armor that you read about in fairytales. I know it's childish but it just fits you." Y/n said with a nervous smile.
"That's the first time I've ever heard that before, but it's not childish I love stories." Charley replied with a smile.
After they left the store, Charley went to go do more stuff with the animals, but since Y/n had a little more time, she knew that she had to repay him for letting him buy her the ring. She took a horse and rode as quickly as she could down to the town and to where this nice store was that had everything respectable guy could want. She walked around and that was when she saw it. It was a beautiful silver pocketwatch that was able to get something engraved on it and Y/n immediately knew what she was going to put on it. The man wrapped carefully put the pocketwatch in a velvet bag and Y/n paid for it before heading back to Tunstall's ranch.
"Hi Charley!" Y/n said waving to him before she hopped off her horse with the velvet pouch in her hand.
"Hey Y/n do you need anything?" Charley asked her happily while wrapping up his lasso that was in his hand.
"I felt really bad that you got me something earlier so I decided to go and get you something." Y/n said hiding the bag behind her back.
"You better not have spent too much, you didn't have to get me anything." Charley said resting his hands on his belt.
Y/n handed him the bag and he opened it to reveal the silver pocketwatch with the words "my knight in shining armor" written on the part that flips up. Charley stood there for a second in awe of it before opening and looking at the clock face.
"This is the nicest thing that I have ever owned." Charely said with a smirk.
"I'm glad that you like it." Y/n said with a cute smile on her face.
"I love it thank you Y/n!" Charley said and gave her a quick hug.
"It's no problem!" Y/n said hugging him back.
"Well I gotta get to work or I'm going to get in trouble." Y/n said laughing a little bit.
"Same, talk to you later?" Charley said with bright eyes.
"For sure!" Y/n said before walking off to go do her set of chores that she had to do at the ranch.
