"Hello Kamala aunty," I answered the ringing phone, knowing that the only person to call our house at 6am would be her. She wakes up every morning at 4am and gets chores done before 10am.

TOO EARLY.

"Oh Pillai, I've been meaning to ask if you liked the boy I asked you to meet."

AAAAAH WHAT AM I GONNA DO?

Oh yeah right. That avoiding phone tactic I saw from that Tamil film.

"What did you say aunty? The phone line isn't clear" I shouted.

"Pillai I can here you fine though," she said.

URGH HOW DO I CONVINCE HER.

I found my brother's empty crisp packet. I crumpled it to the phone.

"Aunty, the line is breaking up. I can't understand what you are saying. Shall we talk later?" I said hastily putting the phone down.

YES I NOW HAVE ACCOMPLISHED ONE INCIDENT OF AVOIDING AWKWARD CONVERSATIONS.

NITHYA-1 SITUATIONS-1009

GAH STILL A LONG WAY TO GO. NEVER GIVE UP NITHYA!

...

"Hey Nithya, could you pass me the first page of the floor plan please."

Felix and I were going through the files for the coastal theme park project and today the boy was fully engaged.

Daring to take a look at him whilst passing the files, I took in the deepness of his green eyes. They were always full of energy.

BAMMMMM
Our eyes met.

CLOCKED ME LOOKING AT HIM.

I quickly averted my eyes from him.

He peered over into my notes and said,
"Nithya, i made the same mistake. The concept producers purposefully mispelt that."

"Why on earth- oh the pun."

He chuckled joining in with me.

"Do you know what my brother said the other day?"

"Younger or older?"

"Younger."

"Awwwww"

"Not really though. He's 14 and he's taller than everyone else in the family and nearly as tall as me!" He complained.

WELL THATS AN ACCOMPLISHMENT.

"Do you think once he's grown he'll have to duck his head through doorways."

"I hope not, they'll start teasing him and calling him giant."

AWWWW HE'S PROTECTIVE OF HIS LITTLE BROTHER.

"What about you, any siblings?"

"Yeah I have an older brother. He is so annoying. There was this time when I was minding my own business and then he grabbed my perfume an started wasting it in the air. Then he sprayed his perfume on me so I smelt like a boy for the whole day," I ranted with anger that resulted from my perfume miserliness.

Felix just displayed a perplexed expression on his face and then said, "Any other siblings?"

"Um it's a bit complicated, I think I may have had a sister called Bhairavi but I don't remember anything about her."

"Really, sorry if I was being intrusive."

"No Felix, its good you asked me because no one really knows about it apart from my best friend and Kathir."
