"Hi Emma"

My best friend was here on my request to see her. I hadn't been to see Kathir yet. I needed Emma's knowledge and advice first. She sat next to me under the covers of my bed. I had told her everything that had happened with Kathir. The first thing she had said was "Is he hot?" but sure it did make me cheer up a little. Her blue eyes just make her spread happiness wherever she goes.

"Hey Nithya. What are we going to do now? We could go on a mission to find out about Kathir since your parents are being so secretive," she said, intently staring at me.

"Yes we should. But Emma you know how I am with plans."

"Nithya, I'm no Poirot but we both still have brains so we can find out something. "

She was amazing. Emma had been my best friend for 5 years. If I said something was a secret, she would guard it as her soul and only mention it with caution even when we were alone. I've always loved that about her. She would be honest with me and tell me if something I was about to do was stupid.

"Thanks for being here for me. You're the only one that gets my perspective."

We both fell into a comfortable silence. She started twirling her brown locks around her finger and that means one thing. She was considering whether to say something or not. This was not common for Emma she was mostly straightforward with me.

"Emma, are you ok?"

"Um yeah I was just thinking... Nithya, do you remember anything about beaches or your family friends when you were younger?"

"I have such a bad memory of my childhood. I remember things like my first day of secondary school. My friends there like Jade, Kelly and Sam. When it comes to family friends there were the same people that I know now. I don't remember him. I don't know why. "

Emma pulled me into a hug.

"Its ok sweetie. Ok Nithya calm down. Look we have time. There is still one day right. We don't have to find out anything now. "

"What do I do Emma? I'm not ready to meet him today."

"He's not forcing you to go out. The way you describe him, he seems to be an understanding guy. Pass me your phone. I'll handle it. "

Obediently I passed my phone to her. In our friendship I was usually the mature one while she would be eccentrically trying out something daring. When it came to getting me out of a mess, she could do it. I saw her type. "I'm not feeling very well at the moment. We can talk at work. "

I turned my head to the buzz reply that Kathir sent.

GET WELL SOON NITHYA

BE CAREFUL

CALL ME IF YOU NEED ANYTHING

KATHIR

"Awww look at that Nithya. So cute."

Oh dear. It seemed like Emma was going to ship us if though I hardly knew the guy.

...

Seeing my face in the mirror after my shower made me grimace. My lack of sleep brought back those dark circles. I know I don't make an effort to look good. Tomorrow was my first day of work. I needed to make a good first impression. I noticed in life that the pretty ones that put effort tended to succeed. The sophisticated clever ones were the people who were popular at university and at work experience.

My curly mass of black hair got in my way as I bent down to clear my room.

Everything was a mess as Emma had left it after staying over. I needed order so I could start my day.

I decided to had eyeline today as I have no knowledge in doing colourful makeup. Adding some perfume to keep my calm, i walked out of the bedroom.

My mum comes upto me blocking my way.

"Stand here. I need to take the evil eyes away from you. "

She carried s fistful of tissue and dried chillies and waved them around the outline of my body. She paused with the pile un front of my mouth, saying,

"Spit now.!"

I spat obediently. I enjoyed this type of thing because it feels ticklish.

...

I felt a buzz in my pocket.

I opened the phone seeing that it was Kathir.

I HOPE U R FEELING BETTER TODAY :)

Should I be annoyed at him for sending these texts or be grateful that final a guy gives a shit about me.
