(Earlier)

Jay sits dumb-founded. Someone... flirting with him? A girl flirting with him? It shouldn't feel this wrong, should it?

Justin suddenly gets up, "Come on man, let's get out of here." Justin grabs Jay and drags him out of the library before can even get a word in.

Outside the library Jay breaks away from Justin's grasp, "Dude, what the hell?" While Jay's angry, yes, he's also relieved. It was weird and felt abnormal to him.

"I'm sorry!" Justin spews, "I don't know what came over me. You looked uncomfortable, and I..." He doesn't finish that sentence.

"What was I going to say?"

Jay shrugs.

"Bye Jay!" Sadie yells from inside of the library.

Jay sighs, "Whatever, it was weird anyway."

"You know Jay, somehow we always end up at the lake," Justin says he's sitting on a large rock near Jay.

Jay shrugs, he didn't mind the lake at all. He gently grabs onto a frog."Gotcha!"

"Justin look!" He takes the frog over to Justin. Justin was always vocal that thought frogs were weird, but he was always a good sport about it.

Justin laughs, "Dude, what is it with you and frogs?"

"I just think they're neat." Jay answers, "Do you want to hold it? It won't bite." Something inside Jay is welling with pride but there's also some anxiety there.

Justin looks uneasy, "I don't know..."

"You can pet it, I promise that it won't hurt you, I've got it pretty good." Jay readjusts his grip on the frog.

"If you say so." Justin touches the frog with a jittery finger.
"It's... slimy," Justin says with a disgusted look on his face, he pats it on the head with his index and middle finger.

"Well, what did you expect?" Jay turns around and puts the frog back down. "See you later little dude."

"You're pretty weird," Justins says suddenly.

"Thank you? I guess..." Jay says, not exactly sure how to respond. He knows he's not exactly normal but did Justin have to point it out?

"A good weird." Justin recovers.

"Thanks."

Jay throws his robe on Justin's head, "Hold this." He rolls up his pants about up to his knees, takes off his socks and shoes then goes into the water.

"What are you-"

I watch him wade at the shore of the lake. He's always different when we're outside. I don't know if this is on purpose but he just seems happier.

I'm still uneasy about the whole frog thing, but it makes Jay happy. So I'll roll with it.

It's nice being around him. There's something about him that I just can't quite put my finger on, it is there though. It keeps me coming back, no matter how... strange he is.

"You're going to smell like a lake, we still have a class to get to today!" I yell.

"It's only Astronomy, I'll be fine." He responds, staring at something in the water.

I put our robes down on the rock and go over to him, "What are you looking at?"

"Nothing," he says, he's still looking in the water.

"I don't believe that." I retort, standing by the water's edge.

"Good," He whispers.

"What?"

Before I have time to react, Jay pushes his hand through the water, splashing me, getting water all over!

"OH, THAT'S IT!" I yell, he's laughing and holding on to his stomach. I slide my socks and shoes off.

I tread into the water with him and splash him with all my might. "Hah!"

Soon enough, we're both in a splashing war. One of his splashes ends up soaking me. "You little shit!" I yell and push him -harder than I thought apparently because he stumbles back-

"Shit-" he yelps before his head falls underwater.

"Fuck!" I reach down and pull him out. "Are you okay?"

He stands there in shock before answering, "Yeah, I'm fine. I think."

"I'm-" I can't finish the sentence and bust out laughing. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to push you that hard."

Jay starts laughing too, and I know we're still good.

Jay pulls a fresh shirt over his head and throws the dirty clothes in the laundry bin.

"I'm still not sure about the whole house-elf thing." He says to Justin, who is also changing. Both boys have their backs facing each other.

"Is there anything we can do about it?" He asks.

"No, not really," Jay says. "I'm going back to the library since we left our books there. Are you coming?" He sits down on his bed and takes Lance out from his cage as a sort of proof that he isn't staring.

"Sure, I'll come," Justin answers as he buttons up a shirt leaving the top one unbuttoned. He turns to Jay. "So... about that Partia girl."

"What about her exactly?" Jay looks up from Lance, who is happily laying in his lap.

"What did you think?"

Jay thinks about the incident in the library. How strange it felt to him. Then his mind went -weirdly- to Justin, Malfoy, and Harry? What if it were one of them instead?

No, no! "I like girls." He thinks to himself. Girls are great, they're pretty and funny and... and? Whatever. He nods as if to confirm. "I like girls."

"What?" Justin asks.

Jay meets his gaze, "Did I say that out loud?"

"Yeah, you did."

"Oh sorry." Jay laughs nervously. "I mean, it was a little weird since I don't know her but I guess it was okay." Yeah, that's why he didn't like it. He just didn't like her. He likes girls... right?

He puts Lance back into his cage. "Let's go then."
