(Halloween)
I'm talking with Luna and her friend Cho about our assignment today in Herbology. (While also continuing to eat my stash of candy for Halloween.) Professor Sprout has made a bit too many places for bouncing bulbs in class, and now there's an overabundance of them. So she's making us STUDENTS take them out to the fields by the castle and replant them there. I groan, really not wanting to dig into any dirt today. I sigh, popping a licorice wand into my mouth.
"You should probably cut back on all that candy," Luna advises.
I shoot her an unpleasant look. I sigh and slip on my gloves. We take out over three dozen pots of buried bulbs to the fields. And boy, are these things heavy! I drop the last pot on my foot and accidentally kick it over. The bulb sprawls out of the dirt inside and wakes up.
"Miss Ashum! Grab your bulb, quickly!"
I bend over, reaching for the little plant.
"How bad can it get with just one?" I mutter.
But then. . . The bulb springs away before I can say anything and starts bouncing and zipping and springing off of the other students. It's bounding from person to person and has so much force in it. That it knocks most of us down! And people tumble into the other pots."Oh, dear..." Professor Sprout frets.
Within a few minutes, it's absolute chaos. Bulbs are flying off of us students, knocking us down to the ground over. And over. And over. I may have whiplash. I reach for my wand, but a bulb bounces onto my wrist and prevents me from doing so. I reach again and manage to get my grip around the stem of my wand. And while I'm at it, I pull out a Sherbert Lemon from my other pocket. I bite into it and cast the first spell that comes to mind.
"Arresto Momentum!!" I shout.
The bouncing freezes in place and everything goes slow. Draco pops up by my side and smirks.
"Nice job Ashum." He compliments, "However, bad on you for getting us into that mess too."
"Oh shut up. Gimme a hand."
He lends me his hand and helps me up.
I thank him and brush the dirt off of my robes.
Professor Sprout stands up, fixing her hat.
"Phew. Ok! Ok, children! Now let's quickly gather up the Bulbs and plant them before everything winds back into full speed!"
We all nod in agreement and start to pluck the bulbs from the air and the ground. The rest of the class is dull, but I manage to get by with my sweets. Oh, and my friends too.
(Time/Skip)
I groan, finding my pocket of candy and sweets empty. Guess I was crunching a bit too fast on the treasures I had for today. Man, now I'm bummed. I sigh, before turning the corner and bumping into Valentine. Huh.
"Oh! Sorry, I wasn't paying attention-- Oh hey, Vyla!"
I smile at them and wave, "Why hello there, Traitor!"
"Traitor? What do you mean?"
"Oh, relax, I'm just teasing you for not hanging around as much anymore--,"
I narrow my gaze and give a wicked smile, "--Traitor."
Valentine humors me with a chuckle, and I notice the box in their arms.
"Uh, whatcha got there?"
"Oh, just something for the Weasleys."
"The Weasleys?"
I scoff, "Why are you hanging around them exactly?"
"Because they asked for my help with their business. We've got snacks, and pranks, and fireworks, and sweets--"
"Wait, hold on-- you have candy?"
"Well, yeah. But what's it to you?"
"I take it all back! The Weasleys are GREAT people! Now, where can I buy their candy?" I step closer to Valentine and give a great big smile.
They frown and step back.
"Tsk, tsk, Vyla. Using the Weasleys to get your hands on candy? I'm disappointed in you."
I gasp, "You think I was trying to USE them??"
They give me a dead stare.
"Ok fine, maybe just a little. But I ran out of my stash!"
Valentine sighs, and pulls a chocolate frog out of the box, tossing it to me.
"Just shut it and take this. Get off my back, I'm already stressed enough."
"What does it cost?" I ask, being skeptical.
"You can pay me back later. Ok?"
Valentine walks around me and down the hall, "We can talk later!" And I watch as they disappear around the corner.
I open the frog and catch it before it hops away. I've had enough hopping today...
