‘’Tell me you are not serious? Who the hell, does he think he is? Ordering me to attend the damned council meeting.’’ My outburst was met with my mother’s instant rebuke.
‘’Manners! Young lady and this is not the way to address your soulmate and he didn’t issue an order. He made a request and very politely I might add.’’
‘’Soulmate? He is a fascist. Mother, who thinks the world revolves around him, and believe me his politeness is only for show.’’
Dad said, ‘’Elena, calm down. Your mother is right. He made a request and there is nothing wrong with him wanting to see you.’’
‘’I don’t have any business there this time. The council members are going to discuss offensive strategies, placements, and plans of action. What am I going to contribute? My sarcasm.’’
‘’Elena your attitude is starting to worry me. I don’t expect you to fall head over heels for him but you should at least show some affection for your mate. Why is it that I only detect dislike?’’
‘Because I do dislike (hate) him.’
Instead of being honest. I chose to ignore the problem and said, ‘’Don’t overthink things mother.
I will attend the meeting if that’s what you want.’’
I tried contemplating Lucas’s intentions but he was an enigma to me. I always considered him a standard alpha male, dominant, imposing but most of all vane but to my utter disappointment, he was proving to be far too shrewd and cunning for me to handle. I was at the end of my wits with him. Just when, I thought, I had caught a break, Lucas Black always appeared to shatter my hopes and dreams in a timely manner. I had to do something to keep him from making good on his threat. But most of all, I had to figure out, what he was up to because I had a hunch, he was about to declare open war on the land of my happiness.

The council meeting this time around was different instead of the secret headquarter this meeting was going to be conducted in the lunar pack territory in their vast recreational hall. Every top-ranking; Shifter, mage, vampire, and celestial were present. Representing their either their respective families, packs, or association they were affiliated with.
Which begged the question, why was I here? Even my friends didn’t make the cut. The only person, I closely knew here was Aaron, with the exception of my family. I wasn’t a fighter or a highly reputable mage. Hell, I wasn’t even that good a healer. Surely, Lucas didn’t just want to show his mate off to the people present here?
Without delay, the meeting was commenced by August Black, ‘’In the past few days, we have reconned the area around the abandoned valley. Where we suspect the rogues have been hiding. There are about thirty of them whose presence has been detected. The vampires will be leading the charge of this attack, while the shifters are going to provide us tactical support. The mages are going to accompany us to the front. They will nullify any barriers present while masking our presence. Some of the celestial healers are going to accompany the shifters so that any wounded person would be healed in haste if necessary. The attack will happen at dawn. When the rogues least expect it. Darius and Lucas are going to inform everyone of their assigned role in the formation.’’
Darius took charge and started assigning, the shifters their designated roles and positions in the formation. while I repeatedly sneaked glances at Aaron who was describing the area around the valley to the rest of the group. which included Layla. Then came Lucas’s turn to inform people of their position in the formation. While I was busy admiring Aaron. I suddenly felt silence descend around me I looked up in confusion and found everyone staring at me. I looked to my father for a clue but his worried face greeted me.
‘’What?’’ I asked.
‘’Elena dear, didn’t you hear, what I said?’’ Lucas asked me.
‘’No, What did you say, could you repeat?’’ I asked meekly.
‘’Oh nothing, I was just clarifying your position in the formation.’’
‘’My position? I did not think I would be a part of the formation.’’ I asked in confusion.
‘’You will support me, on the front of the formation. while I attack.’’
‘’Huh? Support how? I don’t know any shielding magic.’’
‘’Shield? No dear, you will be using offensive magic. Your magic is lighting type right? You will be attacking rogues head-on alongside me you know like a tag team.’’
‘’What? Tell me you are joking?’’ I was stupefied by his declaration.
‘’Joke? Elena this is a very serious matter. Why would I joke about this?’’ he said as his face was the very definition of innocence.
‘’Why else would you, want me at the front? Attacking rogues no less? Unless you want me to die a gruesome death? You do know they pretty much killed me once?’’
‘’Of course not Elena. What I know is, how you emerged victorious against rogues. When the odds were against you. I need that very same show of tenacity from you, Elena. I can still see the marks they left on you. I want you to have your revenge on them with me by your side.’’
‘What the hell?’
In the duration of five minutes, Lucas black had painted a very vivid picture of love and dedication portraying me as the heroine and him as a supportive hero with a heart of gold. Any resistance from me now would be either seen as an act of cowardice or rejection. Even when this colossal jerk was screwing me over, I was left with no choice but to comply.
‘Well played Lucas Black. I will pay you back tenfold.’
‘’There is nothing more rewarding for me than to have you by my side. when I electrocute people. Lucas Black, I will remember this very moment. when I get my revenge. Thank you for doing this for me.’’ I said with mock sincerity that would fool even the devil, accompanied with an eerie smile on my face.
