Chapter 20 The End Part 1

I was starting to remember bits and pieces of what had transpired before my abduction. That rogue had got me good, even now I couldn’t fully piece the events together. My head was still throbbing with pain and Lucas’s smug face wasn’t helping either. That reminds me, how the hell did he escape the rogue that attacked me? No way in hell could he have taken that rogue on by himself and surely the other rogues must have been alerted by then? What exactly happened while I was passed out? 

I was at the end of my wits with Lucas. The inner workings of his brain were proving to be exceedingly difficult for me to understand. Never had I ever met someone so resiliently unreasonable. What was his end game here? What did he hope to achieve by abducting me?

He must have known that he would be portrayed as a villain in this scenario. So why do all of this?

 Especially since he was affiliated with the council. Something so atrocious such as this; could even serve as grounds for revoking the Black family’s right to be on the council. So why did he take such a risk? I had a foreboding that something vile was afoot and I had to find out what?

‘’What is it that you hope to achieve by all of this Lucas? Surely you know this won’t end well for you. I was last seen with you and I am pretty sure; our sudden disappearance might have raised some questions and how the hell did you relocate us? Last I checked, vampires couldn’t do magic?’’ I inquired curiously.

‘’What a curious little thing you are. Don’t worry my love, by the time we are done. There won’t be any cause for objection left and surely you know how influential my family is? Sweeping this under the rug won’t be a problem.’’ He replied mockingly.

This isn’t working. I had to figure out a way out of here and I need magic judging by my depleted reserves of magic. I haven’t been here for long…….wait. He said there was a full moon tonight. But we left at dawn for the abandoned valley……... No-no-no this can’t be?

‘’Lucas how much time has passed since the rogue jumped me?’’ The nervousness in my voice was evident. 

He smirked as he answered my question,’’ Not long, just 14 hours give or take.’’

My heart thumped at his proclamation. 14 hours and no one had found me and what was worse; my magic had not replenished even after such a long time. What was I going to do now?

In my despondent state, I did even realize when Lucas came near me and touched my face with his cold hands. Startled by his touch, I backed up but he caught me by hair. I felt the sting caused by his grip,’’ Oh dear, Elena, what a sorry sight you are. You must have realized by now; the gravity of the predicament you are in? You know you could have avoided all of this, if you just had submitted like a good girl but no! You had to rebel! Look where your choices landed you; In shackles. Tsk, tsk, you don’t know how much it pains me to see you like this. I would have laid the world at your feet if your heart desired, but you didn’t even give me a chance, and look where that has brought us.’’ 

‘’DO NOT TOUCH ME!’’ I spat the words at him with venom in them as I struggled to scramble out of his hold but he remained unfazed. After a moment he let go of my hair and stood up and started speaking again but this time his words weren’t mocking, his face deadpan,’’ I did not answer your question earlier but I think I should inform you, as it is a matter of grave importance. You are here so we can mate.’’

It took me a moment to register what I was hearing,’’ Huh? Did you kidnap me for a mating ceremony?’’ Sarcasm dribbled from my words.

‘’Oh, don’t be Ludacris Elena, the mating ceremony happens after the bonding. We are here to bond as mates do.  Without unwanted interruptions.’’ He was back to his condescending self now and I failed to keep derision out of my voice when I asked, ‘’And how will you achieve that goal without my consent?’’

‘’Consent? Since when did mating required consent? it’s a natural phenomenon, Elena. It just happens. All I am going to do is make sure that this time there is no spell blocking our mating bond.’’
