I understand it's not safe to be in a room without a teacher. But, Ms. Jeanette Coleman is out for a while due to lymphedema surgery. Her chair seems so empty, but I can still see her sitting in that chair. As one of my favorite teachers, I miss her, and I hope she's recovering. I guess they didn't have a substitute to take her place.
Although her room is the size of two classrooms, I sit right in front of everyone. Since we don't have assigned seats, everyone sits where they please. I have a habit of isolating myself from all the kids. I usually leave them behind for now and focus on myself. But, I look back at the class now and then. They're all in my view as they get the chance to be rambunctious rascals. Today, Jailyn and her friends are trying to get away from her friend, Izzy Brown. I guess they're play fighting or said something to make them want to diss each other. My other friend, Mileena is drawing in her sketch pad meticulously. It's very loud, but I have my trusty headphones like always. Some are walking around, and some are just unable to stay still. Armando and his friends are sitting peacefully, whispering to one another, while Aaliyana is sitting on top of the table, practically on top of Armando. But, since this is a free period, things seem brighter. It's like I'm absconding persistent emotional tarnishing. But, this won't last long. Mr. Hudson is supposed to come up any minute to talk about the situation in private with Armando. I'm still worried, though. Oh no, I spoke too soon. A high-pitched, loud, ringing flooded over the prattle of children. I look to my right since I'm already turned around. The school phone, attached to the wall was right by the teacher's desk. The one's closest to the phone was Jailyn, Izzy quibbling at each other, while Jailyn exclaimed,
"I'll get it!" She raised her voice, and it sounded high-pitched.
"No, Jailyn, you ain't getting nada!" Izzy exclaimed in his deep southern accent. He pushed her out the way. It didn't look like an intentional aggressive push. Jailyn fell back three wide steps and fell into Morgan Chapp who was behind her. Morgan was distracted and was talking to Danielle. Morgan easily fell. She was skinny and dark-skinned, similar to Jailyn. Jailyn and Morgan both ended up on the floor. Danielle intuitively stepped back, as her eyes enlarged. Danielle White was dark-skinned, tall, and has acne spread all over her face. Her black glasses and thick figure made her look taller from this angle.
"Yo..." Danielle stuttered, with her light, yet slightly loud voice.
"JAILYN!!" Morgan exclaimed in her lightweight voice. It was louder than the persistently, repeating ringing phone.
"Get off of me!" Morgan's voice lowered. Jailyn was cooperating like an 80-pound sandbag weighing down her body, refusing to give up.
"I didn't even push her that hard!" Izzy exclaimed.
"Yes, it was!" Jailyn yelled.
"Yo, can one of ya'll answer the phone?" Danielle asked for anyone to hear. Though, everyone ignored her.
"IZRYEL!" Morgan exclaimed, disgruntled.
"She's exaggerating! I did not push her that hard!"
"Her clumsy self can't even handle a little push!" He bleated. Jailyn was still pretending to struggle, as Morgan tried to wiggle her way out of the weight of Jailyn and her bookbag.
"Excuse You! I'm strong, I'll have you know!"
"That explains why you're on the floor, 'cause of all that damn junk food you're eating!" Izzy retorted quickly. Kids all around laughed. Jailyn was about to get up, as Danielle stepped around Morgan, Jailyn, and Izzy. Right as she was about to pick up the phone, it stopped ringing.
"Oh..." Danielle said as she backed away from the phone. She was still close to the desk. Jailyn and Morgan were finally off the ground as Izzy kept defending himself saying he didn't cause the drama. The phone rang again.
"I'LL GET IT!" Jailyn exclaimed, pushing Izzy intentionally hard to avenge his supposed intentional push.
"Jailyn!" Izzy called with his voice shaking. His slight high-pitched tone made me laugh more. But, Danielle grabbed the phone off the stand on the wall. Morgan pushed her away from the phone as the revenge of Jailyn being pushed into her. I had a huge smile and kept laughing as Danielle spoke. Oh, wait, now Izzy is actually on the floor.
"Hello?" Danielle greeted. There was a pause.
"No... the teacher is... out for a minute." Danielle lied with her eyes enlarged, lying through her teeth. That needs no explanation.
"You want Armando? What room?" She asked, concerned.
"Recording studio? Got it!" She replied enthusiastically.
"Armando! Mr. Hudson wants you downstairs in the recording studio!" Danielle exclaimed across the room, in her sing-song tone of voice.
"Wait, what?" He asked genuinely confused, looking at Danielle.
"Ok, He's coming... You're welcome." Danielle hung up the phone. Danielle always had a nice tone of voice. It wasn't too light or too deep. Armando got out of his seat without his bookbag, with his phone swinging in his hand. My friend named Sophia Kahn was sitting at the table behind me. I had previously told her everything, and we both looked at each other concerned. She looked a bit frightened. The atmosphere was bright, social, and crazy. It wasn't dark and tense, like how it usually was.
"Hudson wants to talk to him?" She mouthed. I nodded with my eyes enlarged, already anticipating the results. Jailyn, Morgan, and Izzy were verbally arguing, while Danielle and Mileena were watching this like an action movie playing out to its' bitter end. My face still felt red and flustered from laughing persistently. I turned around, facing the smart board, which was used to teach the class. I had incomplete homework waiting patiently for me. It seems I significantly swayed from my priority. Though, I was a little uneasy. I didn't need to look at that empty seat.
... 15 minutes later. Time: 12:32 PM.
Armando came back into the room. That wasn't long. That was only 15 minutes of talking. I saw him and his friends chatting. I saw his friend, Jonathan asked what he was called down for. Armando replied that he'll text him the scenario. Smart boy. He didn't want me, or anyone else to hear the scenario. I guess he knew I was watching him. The rest of the boys were all on their phones texting each other. I guess they all wanted to know. Hmm... This class ends in 3 minutes. I should go now.
