The Gargoyle let her in without having to use the password, which was surprising, but Hermione didn't say anything against it.
She began to panic as she wondered why she was being called to the office. She was afraid that she had been caught with Draco that night in the lake. She reassured herself that Draco would have also been called to the office if that were the case.
She knew that they weren't very quite returning to the castle and even the first years would have been able to tell that they were drunk.
She let out a deep breath and pushed the door open. McGonagall was sitting at her desk with a big smile plastered across her face.
"Have a seat." Minerva said
Hermione walked across the room and sat in one of the armchairs across from the desk.
"You're looking happy. I'm hoping this is good news." said Hermione
"yes it is great news. The Australian Ministry have located your parents and their knocking them out to bring them to London." said McGonagall
Hermione gasped and smiled. After all this time worrying that she wouldn't be able to find her parents again, she had found them.
"That's amazing." said Hermione
"It should take at least a week for them to start to get their memories back, but by the end of the month they should have almost all their memories back. There will only be a few fuzzy parts of their memories." said the Headmistress. She had lots of enthusiasm in her voice.
"They might not be happy with you using magic around them though. I'm sure you understand why."
Hermione knew that would probably be the outcome. She just hoped that once their memories return she could make them understand.
"I expected that to probably happen." she said
Minerva nodded and sent her a reassuring smile. "I'm sure they will be happy to have their daughter back."
Hermione smiled back and got up from her seat. "I should get going now. Dinner is about to start."
McGonagall nodded. Hermione walked out of the room with a genuine smile on her face. She got lost in her thoughts as she walked down the hallways.
She wondered if her parents looked any different now. Maybe they had made some new friends in Australia.
She couldn't wait to see them again once they had their memories return.
Hermione barely registered that she had made it to the Great Hall and she was walking over to the Gryffindor table.
She sat down at the table and smiled down at her empty plate. She didn't want to stop smiling.
"What's got you so happy?" asked Harry
"The Ministry found my parents. They're going to return their memories." said Hermione excitedly.
Ginny jumped up from her seat and pulled Hermione into a deathly tight hug.
"That's amazing, Mione." said Ron
Ginny let go of Hermione and sat back down at the table again.
"We should celebrate!" said Ginny
As much as Hermione wanted to celebrate she wanted to do other things. "As much fun as that sounds, I think I'm going to pass."
Her three friends gave her strange glances.
"You've been really distant this year. You never want to do anything with us." said Ron
