Sunlight gleamed down upon my skin, filtering through the leafy trees. I let out a content sigh, closing my eyes. Ever since Arthur convinced me out of bed that day we've been closer than ever, spending all our time in each other's company.

It was odd, the idea of me warming up to a vampire, and a vampire as conflicting as Arthur growing accustomed to myself.

???: Heh, you seem awfully carefree for your current predicament.

I spun around at the unknown voice to face a man, one whom I had never seen before.

Reader: Who are you? How did you get on the grounds? You're trespassing.

Ah, I should tell someone. But no one is around.

???: Your father misses you.

I froze. It felt as if my breath was sucked out of me.

...Father? How could this man know him?

_: What do you want from me?

I choked out.

???: Not what I want, what he wants.

I grimaced, toes curling in my shoes. I don't care what he wants.

???: Nothing else to say? I suppose not. Regardless, your father misses you very much, so much so you should expect a visit.

My jaw clenched on the word. Visit. No, I wouldn't allow it. The men, they wouldn't allow it.

There's no way I'm ever going to face that man again.

???: There's much to discuss, you and he.

I stared down at my feet, unable to look at this uninvited stranger.

???: Really, playing vampire's princess...it's getting old, isn't it?

Nothing. No words would come out of my mouth, despite screaming them in my mind.

???: I'll deal with them later. For now, you are his top priority.

_:...I don't care. I don't care, I don't care! I don't care what he wants, I refuse!

Looking up from the ground with fire in my eyes I realize the man is gone. I turned at the

sudden sound of a door, Arthur rushing outside.

Arthur: _! What's wrong?

The mere sight of him was enough to break me, collapsing to my knees.

Arthur: _!

He caught me, slumping to the ground beside his feet.

Arthur: _, are you alright? What happened?

Reader: You...you'll let me stay, right?

Arthur: What?

Reader: You'll let me stay, right?!

Arthur: What's gotten into you?

Reader: Please!

I begged, grabbing a hold of his pant leg.

I can't ever see that man again...I'll live here forever as these vampires' slave if I must!

Even that is a better fate than meeting with that man.

_: You'll let me stay, right?

Arthur knelt down beside me, wearing a soft smile.

Arthur: As if I'd let you go, love.

A small smile crept on my lips. Simple words I would loathe in the past have now become my

sanctuary. A lone tear snaked its way down my skin, staining my cheeks.
