-Scene: Dining Room-

I idly moved the broom in my hands, mind somewhere else. Yesterday in Feliciano's room...Where did all that cash come from? It's been in my mind since then; I can't forget no matter how hard I try. Not only that, there were throwing knives on the bed as well. Why would he need them? I thought back to him in the kitchen twirling a knife around, hoping to get a rise out of me.

Ludwig: Pay attention to your work.

Reader: !!

I forgot he was there, moving my hands faster, sweeping with purpose. Why am I doing these chores? Well, it gives me something to do but still...it shouldn't be my responsibility. I snuck a glance towards Ludwig who was at the dining table, wiping the wood down with a cloth. Perhaps he would know...

Ludwig: If you must ask, ask. It is better than you staring.

Reader: S-sorry. Umm...it's about Feliciano. Do you know why he has that mound of cash?

Ludwig's fingers twitched slightly, stopping and turning to face me.

Ludwig: Why don't you ask him yourself?

He let out a sigh.

Ludwig: Well, I can see why you'd be hesitant. Feliciano has a job of sorts. I can't say what; that's for him to tell you. Really though, you should be focused on more important things rather than snooping around.

I didn't mean to see! He was the careless one, not me!

I grumbled under my breath, "Here I thought getting to know my soulmate was important."

Ludwig straightened up, leaving his rag on the table, leaving me alone in the room. Honestly...

My mind drifted back to Feliciano, a strange feeling deep in my stomach. The more I try to uncover the more confusing he becomes. Will I ever truly know him? Wait, why do I care? I'm not the 'Chosen' or whatever so I should just focus on riding this out. Then I'll be able to go home. Despite thinking of leaving this place, it didn't fill me with the comfort I had thought it would.
