I couldn't believe it was Christmas again. This time something different awaited us, all the students gossiped about was the Yule ball. Every single person had decided to stay for Christmas due to the excitement that was about to occur.
"The Yule ball" our professor lectured in the dance hall "Is a masquerade ball. It's an opportunity to dance and connect with the other schools."
The girls tittered as they stared across the room at the boys.
"I wonder who'll ask me" they whispered.
"So mysterious not knowing who anyone is."
"How romantic" another cooed.
I looked across to Giselle, who was rolling her eyes.
Both she and Valerie hadn't spoken to me since the second task. It's not like I was making much of an effort either.
"So today you will pair up and learn the Tri wizard traditional dance. Everyone up!" Madame yelled, clapping her hands.
All of us stood.
I looked across the room to the boys, I didn't know any of them.
Thinking about this, the only boy I knew was Theo and he was in the year above mine, which meant he wasn't in my lesson.
To my luck, Madam paired us and we soon began learning the waltz.
The music played: Violins sang melodically and the piano danced along to her tune. Trumpets hummed in the background. Occasionally the drum would sing a deep growl. They all danced softly whilst climbing up and down the ladder of volume.
Right after my lesson, Theo awaited me outside.
"Hey" I beamed.
"Hello."
"Are you okay? How come you waited?" I chuckled.
"Come with me" He whispered, pulling my hand.
"Oh okay. Theo, where are we going?"
"Shush, just come on" He laughed.
We raced through the hallways and out through the courtyards. We passed student after student. The mixture of noise blurred past my ears as we ran.
We arrived at the edge of the forbidden forest.
"Why are we-"
"Maria"
"Yes?"
"Do you remember the first time we met?" He asked.
"Vaguely" I teased.
He knelt on his knee and pretended to do up his shoelace. Then he looked up at me.
"Now do you remember?"
"If it wasn't for your shoelace we would've never met" I laughed.
He pulled something out of his pocket.
"Close your eyes" He whispered.
I obeyed.
I heard his footsteps crunch on the ground.
He pulled my hair from my neck and whispered in my ear.
"Are they still shut?"
"Mhm," I giggled.
