August 15, 2010

"Man fuck you Cata." With my New Orleans accent, Carter wasn't coming out right.

"You know what? Fuck you too August. Get out my house." She pushed me out the room.

"Aight." I started packing my bags.

"No leave that shit here, cuz I bought that shit."

I walked out the house, and went to one of my other females' house. I'll be back by her house in a day or two.

Carter

"Another pointless ass argument." I spoke to myself as I packed my stuff.

This time I'm done with August. Whoever bitch house he at now, can have this one also. I'm leaving. Going to Virginia with my mother.

What we argued over? I couldn't even tell you. Over clothes? Over the bathroom? Over food? Shit, it was hella pointless. I laid on my bed to take a nap. I'll finish packing later.

August

2 days later

"Hey baby, I got you some; what the fuck?!" I looked around and saw all her shit gone.

My stuff was still there, but where she at? I saw a note on the refrigerator.

August,

Don't bother looking for me. I'm gone far away. This, me leaving, was for the best. I still love you. Goodbye Aug.

I put the food down and left the house. Guess I gotta do shit on my own now.

"Hey Yung, what you doing here?" Mel asked me.

"She left."

"Who left?"

"Cata." I was almost on the verge of crying.

"Bruh, come in." Mel hugged me and let me in his house.

"When'd she leave?" We sat down.

"I guess two days ago. She done wit me my nigga. She don't wanna be wit me no more. She said she still love me, but ion believe it."

"Y'all did argue a lot. She just got tired. Look, just have hope. You'll come cross her path again. On God." He dapped me up.

"Thanks man." We hugged.

On August 31, 2010 my brother got murdered. R.I.P Mel.

"You gone visit NOLA?" Mama asked me.

"Nah, not yet. Not ready to face him." I sipped my champagne.

"It's been four years." She said. "Look at y'all's beautiful son."

I looked at Roland. He looked very much like his father and would be turning four in March.

"He doesn't know, does he?"

"No ma. I don't plan on telling him anytime soon either."

"I'll see you later. Ro come give grandma some kisses before I go." She stood up.

"Bye Nanna." Ro kissed her cheek and hugged her. "Thank you for the presents."

"You're welcome. Bye Car. Love y'all." She left.

"Come here Ro, you ready for bed?"

"Yes ma'am." He rubbed his eye.

The honesty, he gets from his dad. The manners, from me. I picked him up and carried him to his room. I gave him his pajamas and he dressed himself. I put him in the bed and proceeded my way out until he stopped me.

"Ma?"

"Yeah baby?"

"When am I gonna meet my dad?" He asked.

"I don't know baby. I don't know." I felt bad.

I walked out his room and went downstairs to clean up. I had received a phone call from my best friend Tiffany.

"Hello?"

"Hey mama, what you doing?"

"Cleaning. Whassup?"

"Turn it to BET." She said excitedly.

I stopped what I was doing and turned it to BET. I saw August on there.

"And? Why you tell me to turn it this?" I said.

"He's talking about his tour and ish, and you know you love yo baby daddy." She laughed.

"It's not funny Tiff. Roland asked about his daddy today. I can't tell him that his dad is famous. That I left him to have a baby."

"Look, we're going to one of his concerts and y'all are gonna talk."

"He might not even like me anymore. I've gained weight since I was in Nola."

"No you've had a kid since you was in Nola. And we're going to the concert next Friday." She hung the phone up before I could protest.

"August Anthony finally made it huh? Hmph." I shrugged.

August

"So I think I know where she at." Travis told me.

"Where she at Trav?" He been playing about this ever since she left.

"Virginia." He laughed.

"Boy shut the fuck up." I laughed, only to keep away the hurt.

"I mean it could be watch, she gone pop up at yo concert fine as fuck. And you ain't gone be able to continue."

"Who y'all talking about?" Mama asked.

"Carter." Smoke shook his head.

"Let the girl go. She left for a reason son." Mama kissed my cheek, knowing I ain't wanna hear that shit.

"Nah, I think she left cuz she was pregnant. All we did was argue. She threw up and she could tell I was smoking 15 ft. away."

"She may have been pregnant." Mama contemplated.

"Or she could be part dog." Travis joked.

"Shut the fuck up Trav." We laughed.

The thought that my seed could be out there somewhere was unbelievable, and all I wanted to do was take care of it.
