Tiffany
"Girl, I've never in my life, seen you do this much for somebody to come over. You never clean this much for me!" I was a little offended.
"I used to. Trust. But you came over too often so I was like fuck that. And he's not the only one coming." Carter replied, wiping down the tv in the living room.
"Who else coming?"
"His nieces and cousin."
"Uh huh." Wondering if his cousin was cute.
I'm single, I can wonder.
"Sneak aight looking Tiff, but you'd look better with Travis."
"His brother right?" I took a sip of my soda.
It was Tuesday and they would be arriving tomorrow. Had to make an appoint be here for whatever reason.
"Yeah."
"So tell me this," I crossed my legs in the sofa, getting comfy. "if you didn't have Aug, which one would you date? Hands down."
"If Melvin wasn't with Chandra, I woulda been on him. Mel was better looking than Aug in my opinion. But I clicked better with Aug. But Mel? Shit that thing was fine. R.I.P Mel."
"It's cause he was the oldest." I nodded my head.
"True." She ran upstairs and followed her.
"So what y'all gone do when they get here?"
"Hell I have no idea. August decided he wanted to come so therefore he better do some planning." She changed the sheets on the bed.
"And Friday?" I referred to her date. "You know Aug gone flip shit when he find out you going on a date with another dude."
"Shit, I forgot about Devon. You know August gone have to suck that shit up cuz I'm going on a date!" Carter squealed like a high school girl.
"Is he even cute?"
"Yes he is. And I think he's white. Or mixed. Not sure yet. But stuff we can talk about on our first date."
"Or you can invite him over now so I can see if I approve."
"Tiffany you so ugh!" She laughed, and I couldn't help but laugh too. "I'll invite him over."
"He got kids?"
"Yeah a daughter. Bella. That's how we met actually. At her Dr.'s Appointment. She's like 5 or 6."
"That's cute."
I honesty envied people who already had children. I mean here I am, going to law school and I don't even have a boyfriend yet.
"Hey if I stumble into Dr. Kelly and you're with me, I'm gonna introduce you guys and walk away." Carter smiled.
"A future lawyer and a doctor? Together? Nah, it wouldn't work. He would always have to prove he's right and I would have to legally show him I'm right in court."
"You always talked about how you wanted to get at him."
"I know Crunch, but doctors and lawyers don't mix. At all." I sighed.
"Uh huh." After she finished, we went to the living room and sat on the couch, watching Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
"In West Philadelphia born and raised, on the playground is where I spent most of my days. Chilling and maxing and relaxing all cool and shooting some b-ball outside of a school." We sung along to the theme song, but something was bothering me.
