"So where are we going exactly?" Crunch asked.
"To a club and I really want you to meet somebody." I pulled in a parking spot and shot a text to Jerome.
Jerome and I were just friends, but I knew I liked him a lot. He was cute and very funny. I knew he was somebody I wanted my best friend to meet.
We walked in the club and we sat down at a table.
"Who am I meeting?" Carter asked.
"Someone I go to college with." I smiled. "Oooo this my jam."
Slow Motion by Trey Songz was playing.
"You wanna dance?" A voice whispered in my ear.
I knew this voice. His voice always gave me shivers.
"Let me introduce you to my best friend first." I told Jerome.
"Okay." He smiled.
"Jerome, my best friend, Carter, Carter, my friend Jerome." I smiled as they shook hands.
"Okay, go dance." Carter waved us off.
Jerome and I started dancing.
"So that's ya best friend huh?" Rome asked.
"Yeah, I love her. I can tell she likes you." I smiled.
"Cool cool, soo you know August is performing tonight?"
This was news to me. I feel like him and Carter would be glad to see each other.
"Oh that's nice, that's really nice." I smiled. "I'll be right back."
I walked over to Crunch to where she was sitting. She was in her own little world, vibing to the music.
"Hey Crunch, I gotta tell you something."
"What is it?" She looked at me.
As I was beginning to speak the DJ was already speaking.
Shit! I don't want her thinking I brought her here because of August.
"The ladies love him, the fellas wanna be him, straight outta New Orleans, give it up for August Alsina!"
I put my head down in shame because I knew I was gonna hear Carter's mouth, even though this isn't my fault.
Carter
"How y'all doing tonight?" August spoke into the mic.
"Good." The crowd answered.
I can't believe I was in the same club as this negro. I knew that Tiff had no idea he was gonna be here by the way she put her head down. But damn, how could he not say shit to me about him performing? If he was trying to surprise me, it was sure as hell working.
I admired him. The way he was with his fans. He had that special connection that not everyone has with their fans.
"Y'all look beautiful tonight. Ima start off with Hip Hop." He smiled.
I raised my glass as he started singing then gulped my drink. I wanted to be free. I didn't want to care about anything besides my son.
This song had a nice little beat to it. Before y'all start saying anything, yes I do listen to his music, I just barely have the time to listen to music. I'm not about to buy an aux cord when the radio station I listen to plays the music I like. Plus plugging it in and everything takes to much time. I got things to do, places to be.
