[ Chapter Nine ]

She Is Freezing, Oh, There's A Surprise

Little catch-up on the situation at hand, River and Peter heard and saw something, followed it, and now they were hiding from a van.

"Oh, this must be where the ATM robbers got their stuff." Peter whispered.

Peter's phone started ringing. River shot him a look when she heard the ringtone, in return, he smiled sheepishly.

Ned.

Peter went to flip off of the bridge, she widened her eyes before making the same decision, sure, she didn't land gracefully, well, kinda.

She did the superhero landing.

"Hey! Hey, come on. You gonna shoot at somebody, shoot at us." He told them. River wasn't just wide eyed because she forgo a mask or something, but she did NOT plan on getting shot at tonight.

The guy aimed at the two teenagers, River grabbed her switchblade and held it to her side.

Peter shot a web, they were running, and River was confused. Correction, Peter was holding onto a web he had shot for dear life, and River was getting tired.

So, she stole a motorbike and followed them.

And now, Peter was taking a shortcut, that was fun, she was driving on a motorcycle and she was really tired, probably not a good combo.

----

Skip to the part where Peter and River are freezing, and very soaked in water because of, in River's words, that stupid bird man.

He had dropped Peter, he had made River go off of her bike and into the water, good times had by all.

Thankfully, the Iron Man suit had come to the rescue.

"And then he just, he just, like, swooped down like a monster and he picked me up and, uh, he took me up, like, a thousand feet and just dropped me. How'd you find me? Did you put a tracker in my suit or something?"

The sound of a sigh was heard, "I put everything in your suit. including this heater." He paused, "I also had River here to text me." Peter looked at her with a puppy look.

"What? I'm working for S.H.I.E.L.D., I keep tabs on everyone." She said as she wrang out her jacket.

"Oh, yes, you got a heater." River chattered her teeth.

She had tuned out, trying to warm up, she brought her knees to her chest, and rocked herself.

"Oh, I'm not here." The suit's helmet opened, revealing Tony wasn't there.

"Sorry, I'm talking to teenagers. Stay close to the ground. Build up your game helping little people, like that lady that bought you the churro. Can't you just be a friendly...neighborhood Spider-Man?" Tony said to someone.

The Iron Man suit left and it was just the two teens.

"You're cold." Peter realized once they got down from the playground jungle gym.

She snapped her head to him, "No shit, Sherlock."

After Peter told Ned about not being there, and Ned said they shouldn't go there, River headed home.

So much for Harry telling her to stay for at least 30 minutes.

River huddled against the cold air, sure, she was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, she could fight people, sacrifice, hurt, torture, survive, lie, but she wasn't immune to cold.

She opened the door to her apartment when she saw someone she hadn't seen in a while.

"River."

"M-mom?"

Woah.

Will we get a Mother/daughter reunion, not much of a reunion 'cause they both work together, but still.

I'm so freaking tired.

Okay, bye!
