[ Chapter Eight ]

The Party That Harry Made River Go To

River grabbed her black leather jacket and shrugged, putting it on.

She walked outside her room and saw Harry standing there.

"Harry, wha-" "It's your first party, I'm making sure you won't bail." He said with a smile on his face. He gestured with his head for her to follow him.

If she could have the pressure of saving the world, doing missions on catching bad guys, and spying on people, she could go to a party with random teenagers, right?

Harry looked at her, they both stood outside of the house.

He looked away for one second and he grabbed her shoulders, looking at her.

"Ri-"

"You know, I'm pretty good watching my show-" "Just try out 30 minutes of the party, if you still don't like it, then we can leave." She groaned, "I have to stay for 30 minutes?" He nodded. She rolled her eyes.

They turned to see Peter and Ned walking towards them.

She hated this.

She honestly didn't want to be at the party, but she kept telling herself Michelle was gonna be at the party.

She tried to hide behind Peter, Ned and Harry, but it didn't work.

So, River headed over to get something to eat, and she saw Michelle.

"Didn't think you'd come." Michelle told her truthfully. "Harry made me." Michelle nodded in understanding.

River took a bite of the pizza.

"Can't believe you guys are at this lame party." River looked down, and Harry caught her blushing again. He finally figured out why she was blushing!

"But you're here too." Ned told her, "Am I?" Michelle asked, River looked at Harry and he somehow managed to communicate with her without saying anything. And she knew what he was trying to say.

She walked along with Michelle, they sat on a couch.

She noticed Peter heading out, she excused herself from Michelle and hurried to find Peter, on the roof.

"Peter, what are you doing up here?" She asked.

"This was stupid."

"Look, I-"

"Do you like Michelle?" River looked down at her hands as she sat down, she swung her legs over the roof ledge.

"Maybe.... I have no idea." "Feelings are confusing." She finished. Peter looked at her. "You don't like the party, do you?" She asked rhetorically. "I-" "Liz?" She guessed, he nodded. "I came 'cause Michelle told me about it, had a feeling she was gonna be here. And, because Harry made me."

"So... we both save the world..." Peter trailed off, "Correction, you save Queens, I save the world." She corrected him.

"For now." She nodded, "Yeah, yep, totally."

Also, here's a minor spoiler for the third book as it's based in the falcon and the winter soldier;
Bucky's basically acting as River's dad.
