[ Chapter Nineteen ]

The Compound

River stood behind the group with Harry.

"I'm not looking for forgiveness. And I'm way past asking for permission. Earth just lost her best defender. So we're here to fight." Steve informed.

Ross spoke up to Rhodey, "Arrest them."

"That's a court-martial. It's great to see you, Cap." They hugged, then he and Natasha hugged. "Well. You guys really look like crap. Must've been a rough couple of years."

River and Harry stood to the side awkwardly.

"Uh, I think you look great." Bruce told them, walking in. Harry managed not to jump and scream in surprise, but you could tell the shock was there.

"Uh... heh... Yeah. I'm back."

After the awkward exchange him and Natasha did, Sam voiced everyone's thoughts, "This is awkward."

"No shit, Sherlock." River whispered.

----

"So we gotta assume they're coming back, right?" Rhodey said.

"And they can clearly find us." Wanda added on. "We need all hands on deck. Where's Clint?" Bruce asked.

"After the whole Accords situation, he and Scott took a deal. It was too tough on their families, they're on house arrest." River explained, causing Natasha to look at her with raised brows.

"What? S.H.I.E.L.D. tells me stuff too." She told her.

Bruce was now confused, "Who's Scott?" "Ant-Man." Steve replied.

"There's an Ant-Man and a Spider-Man? Okay, look... Thanos has the biggest army in the universe. And he is not gonna stop until he... he gets... Vision's Stone." Bruce talked more about it.

"Well then, we have to protect it." Romanoff told the group.

"No, we have to destroy it. I've been giving a good deal of thought to this entity in my head, about its nature. But also, its composition. I think if it were exposed to a sufficiently powerful energy source, something very similar to its own signature, perhaps... its molecular integrity could fail." Vision also said.

"What's molecular integrity?" Harry asked River, she sighed and didn't say anything in response.

"And you, with it. We're not having this conversation."

River and Harry tuned out of part of the conversation between Wanda and Vision.

"But it should." Steve paused, "We don't trade lives, Vision." He finished.

"Captain, 70 years ago, you laid down your life to save how many millions of people. Tell me, why is this any different?" Vision walked towards the soldier.

"Can we do that?" River asked, crossing her arms once Bruce brought up that Vision wasn't just the stone.

"Not me. Not here." He shook his head.

"You better find someone, and somewhere fast. Ross isn't exactly just gonna let you guys have your old rooms back." Rhodey reminded them.

"I know somewhere." Steve informed them.

Wanda then looked at Harry, "And who are you?" She asked, confused.

"I'm Harry Osborn." She cocked a brow, still wondering why he was there. "He's a new S.H.IE.L.D. agent." River explained further.

Wanda's just looking out for her "little sister". Wanda's like an older sister to River. I'm just gonna say that.

I got my homework done, I've got nothing left to do for a week because now I have "April Break".

Okay, bye!
