I put my chin on the window frame as I stared at the road beside our house. Occasionally, I changed my head position out of boredom. As our house was surrounded by large empty fields, I could see the road clearly far-far away from here.
A while later, a figure could be seen at the end of the road, followed by a sound of a motorcycle. Hearing the familiar machine sound, I hurriedly got up as I ran to the front door excitedly.
A man wearing a cool helmet and dark denim jacket entered our yard with his Harley. He parked near the terrace, stepped his leather boots on the grass, and took off his helmet, revealing his handsome looks. His mane swayed in the wind, making his majestic figure enchanted with a faint smile on his face.
"Uncle!" I shouted as I ran towards him.
Seeing me running towards him, his smile became wide. He opened his arms and caught me.
"Kevin!" The siberian feline lifted me up and spun me around. I shouted happily as he laughed.
"Aw Kevin, do you know how much your uncle missed you? Did you miss me? Look how much you've grown up while I was not around. How tall are you right now?"
I giggled at his whimper. "Uncle, it's just been two months. I'm not a plant. I'm not grown that much."
"Ridiculous. You are still in your growth spurt period. Of course you grow up quickly."
I pouted. "Well, it was uncle's fault for being away too long."
The adult sighed. "It can't be helped. Uncle still has a house that uncle needs to visit occasionally. It was so far away, so uncle had to travel a long distance."
I tilted my head. "Why did uncle have a house in a different place? Uncle's home is here, right?"
"Well, this is your family's house, not mine. I'm just a freeloader that is staying here for..." He moved his gaze away and mumbled, "babysitting, 'cause your dad said that three heads are better than two."
He sighed. "Hah, I wonder why I accepted him before. I do not regret it though. Life here is probably better than before."
"What do you mean?"
"Nevermind. It's still too soon for you to know." He smiled as he looked at the house. His eyes looked sad for some reason.
"Uncle. Uncle." I tugged his collar. "I don't understand what uncle is saying, but for me uncle is family. So this house is also uncle's home."
He looked surprised for a moment before laughing. "Hahaha! Is that so? Uncle is touched by your words."
He used his right hand to pat me while using the other hand to hold me.
Even though uncle looked thin, he was strong enough to hold me with one arm.
"You know? This place is the hometown of your dad and me. We used to hang out a lot when we were still in high school. But then my family and I have to move out after...that incident."
"What incident?"
"Well, we were still young back then. Many things happen. Haha. Youth." He looked away and made a funny laugh.
"We moved far away from here. Uncle's parents are so strict, you know. I even ran away from home for many years. It was so chaotic back then." He shook his head. "But now uncle realizes that what uncle did was wrong. Now, uncle's parents are already old, much older than your grandfather. They can't move freely as they used to in the past. Uncle has some regrets for leaving them alone like that."
