Secret

A few weeks past. Everyone's gotten used to the new schedule that goes on around here. Aaron and savanna are gone at school from 7:30 to 3:00 so their gone most of the day, I use my in home studio to record while I watch Bentley and Avalynn while Kaiser works. He stays here a lot. Sometimes I go over and spend the night there. Savanna and Aaron are sixteen and are old enough to stay one night by themselves. They have before and the house is still in one piece so I guess we're good.

Savanna's attitude is still the same. I don't know if she's ever gonna come around but I hope she does. She still has two years left with me until she's eighteen. Aaron has changed a little. He offers to do chores around the house, asks for money when he needs lunch or wants to go out with friends, asks permission before doing anything... He's treating me like a mother which I'm grateful for. It's a Wednesday morning and I'm cooking breakfast. The two little ones are in high chairs and the two older ones are finishing homework they never did...

"Good morning." Kaiser says walking into the kitchen. He gives Avalynn a kiss and then comes over to me. "Good morning." He whispers in my ear hugging me from behind.

I give him a kiss and finish breakfast.

The kids eat and I clean up around the kitchen.

"So you wanna go out tonight?" Kaiser asks quietly.

"We can't. We have the kids."

"Savanna and Aaron can stay by themselves and we'll have Dallas or someone watch Ava and Bentley." He says.

"I don't know... I'll see."

"When was the last time we went on an actual date?" He asks as I put the milk and eggs back in the fridge. I shrug. "Exactly..."

"Call Dallas and see if she can watch them then." I say.

"Savanna and I can..." Aaron says.

"We can?" Savanna asks.

"Yeah..." Aaron says looking at her. She rolls her eyes and looks back down at her phone.

I look at Kaiser and give him a "why not" look. He nods.

"Alright... If you want." He nods and finishes his food. I turn around and Kaiser taps me walking past me. I look at him and he smiles. I smile too... I finally feel like a mother to them... Well him... Still working on Savanna.

Aaron POV

"Why the hell did you do that?" Savanna asks as we walk to the bus stop.

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"Why would you offer for us to watch them?"

"Their two and three years old, how bad can it be?" I ask shrugging.

"I don't wanna do it though... I don't want to do anything for her."

"Savanna why can't you just let it go... You'd be so much happier if you would" I say.

"I can't just let it go." She says walking a little faster.

I catch up to her and grab her arm, stopping her.

"Listen, I'm doing this for you... If I were you, I'd get on her good side cause you know damn well she's not gonna enjoy the little secret your keeping." I say.

"And babysitting is gonna help that? She's gonna pissed either way." She says.

"I'm just saying... I'd watch how you treat her... She's our mom." I say before getting on the bus, not knowing how long it's been there.
