We held camp in a forest. It was a wide area so we decided to stay there the night. "You folks know how this all started right?" Chris asked. We all shook our heads. "A man came to my office that day. Said he had a fever. I felt his head and he felt fine. I thought he was bullshittin' me. But he wasn't, as y'all know, the very next day corpses started walkin'." "So what your sayin' is, the very first guy who was infected with the virus came to your doctor office... thing?" Jake questioned. "Indeed. I'm lucky to even be alive." Chris muttered. Chris then tossed his cigarette into the fire. "We had the runnin' ones when the outbreak started." Joel muttered. Chris's eyes widen.

"We call 'em runners. Vicious bastards almost got us killed." He said. "My brother Tommy and I got into a disagreement and split up. Said he was going to join the fireflies." "Ah, I heard of that group. Trying to look for a cure for this epidemic." I blurted. "That's right." Joel said to me. We talked for a few more hours and then hit the hay. It was the next day. It was beautiful counting out the snow. I still need a jacket or at least a sweater or I'm gonna freeze to death with this t shirt I got. It hasn't been that cold recently but it will get cold later. "So where are we going?" Ellie questioned. "I'm up for ideas." Joel replied. "Why not go back to Howes?" I said to Jake in particular. "Carvers camp?! The fuck kinda plan is that?!" He spat. "Its safe and has a green house. We can harvest food there." I said.

"And it was run over by a damn herd!" "The walkers should be gone now." I said. "Well if we can harvest food there I'm in." Chris said. "Sounds good to me." Sarah added. "Its safe there to." Abigail blurted. "You're out numbered Jake. What is it going to be?" Christa said. "Dammit. Fine lets go." He said. A smile formed on my face. "So this Howes, where is it?" Ellie asked. "It's out south." I said. "That's gonna be a while before we get there. We're north right now." Kendra said. "We'll get there." Jake muttered. Lee suddenly started to cry. "Sh sh sh. There there little guy. It's okay." Sarah said gently. Lee went from crying to calm. " Perfect." I complimented. Sarah smiled at me.

"Shh. You hear that?" Christa whispered. We all stopped and listened. "I don't here anything?" Ellie whispered. "Quiet." Joel said. We all started to hear crying. "Fuck it. Is that a kid cryin'?" Jake said pulling out his revolver and walked toward the crying. "Jake wait!" I said. "What?" "I'm going with you." I muttered. "*Sigh* Fine." "Me to." Carl said. "Lets go then." Jake said. Carl and I followed Jake to a abandoned building which looked like a wreck. "I don't like this place one bit." Carl muttered. "You and me both." I said quietly. As we approached the door I grabbed Carl's arm and held it tight. "Ready?" Jake asked us. "Go for it." Carl said. Jake pulled the lever loading a bullet into the revolver and opened the door. All we saw was darkness. The crying was louder though. I gripped Carl's arm harder.

We started to hear children laughter. It was pretty creepy. The laughter and crying mixed together. I held onto Carl's arm as hard as I could. Suddenly some... thing came running from the darkness and screamed extremely loud. "Shoot it!" Carl shouted. Jake aimed the gun and shot the thing that was screaming. "It's a little girl." Jake muttered. "Guys! We got all sorts of infected on the way." Joel said peeking his head in. "Shit." I said under my breath. It was going to be hell.
