Nobody can possibly understand how happy I was before I went to bed, but it was a completely different story when my alarm started to ring. School really had its way of ruining things.
I dozed off for another five minutes before my alarm blasted again, effectively annoying me and forcing me out of bed.
Kayley was ready to leave by the time I got out of my room, so I got a donut from the box real quick and walked out the door with her in tow.
It was routine for us to pass by Angel's house to pick her up before school so that we could all go together.
It had been that way since we were kids when my mom would drive us to school, but since I got my license, I was the one driving us three to school.
Angel's brother, Asher could drive, but he didn't get a car until he graduated, so he rode with us if he didn't ride with one of his friends. Sometimes, he'd drive if I was too lazy.
"Coffee for Kayley, and one for Poppy," Angel slipped into the back seat and handed Kayley her drink, setting mine in the cupholder beside me.
"Kayley brought you a donut there in the back. Don't sit on it," I pointed at her general area before taking a bite out of my own donut.
"Yup, saw it," she lifted the donut up and showed me through the rear-view mirror.
We got to school in no time. There was about fifteen minutes still before class started, the perfect time for me to finish that coffee Angel brought for me.
Told you we had a routine.
Walking in was just like usual, people talking to their friends by their lockers and others cramming a little study time before their tests. Like I said, the usual.
I grabbed my books from my locker as I continued to sip on my coffee.
It was just what I needed to get the sleep out of my system so I wouldn't fall asleep in History class and prove to Mr. Deacon how boring his lesson plan was.
Sabrina found me grinning at my phone before the first period started. Blake had finally texted me the picture I forced him to take of us yesterday while we were eating ice cream.
"If you're done staring at your phone like a weirdo, you should keep it," she spoke, taking the seat beside mine. "You know how Deacon gets when people use their phones in his class."
"Yeah, you're right," I turned my phone off and stuffed it into my bag. "He's gonna come in any minute."
Those were the only words I exchanged with Sabrina, and it was awkward to say the least.
Maybe she wasn't in the mood to talk.

Lunch rolled around after a few hours of boring lectures, and I was happy. My stomach was even happier.
I walked over to my locker and stuffed my books in, checking to make sure everything was fixed the way I wanted them to be.
"Wanna eat lunch with us today?" I could tell that voice apart from anyone's.
"Well, I kinda have somewhere I sit at and people I sit with?" I replied, shutting my locker and turning around to meet the gorgeous blue eyes of a certain Blake Nixon.
"That's too bad," he frowned, taking a small step closer and putting his hands on my hips, making goosebumps appear on my skin. "Can I eat with you, then?"
I raised my eyebrow at him questioningly once I got comfortable. "And why would you want that, fatty?"
"Poppy, I need something from you," someone interrupted before Blake could give me an answer and scold me about calling him fatty.
