It was only as Jungkook allowed Jimin to step into his apartment that he realised: perhaps it wasn't the best idea to bring the man Taehyung had apparently fought, to the place where he was an unwilling roommate. The current impression that Jungkook had with the brunet would only worsen at the sight and this time around, he wasn't even sure if the older would let him explain.

Park Jimin placed himself by the kitchen counter, interlocking his hands together on top of the marble at which he stared resolutely down at. Directly opposite him, Jungkook waited, tapping his fingers impatiently. No-one spoke, what with neither having the intention to break the tensed silence that stretched between them.

Somewhere along the way, somewhere along the path of his life, Jungkook had deviated horribly from the person he was supposed to grow into, from the personality he should have harboured. Somewhere along that skewed road, the blond in front of him had made him feel welcome, so at home in a world where he had never felt more lost.

In the same sense of naïvety with which he had begun this journey of reckless belief, Jungkook had allowed himself to follow blindly the demands of the older boy until it was too late to attempt damage control. His actions were his own and despite how much he wished to blame Jimin, the chaos that had wrecked Taehyung's life rested solely on Jungkook's own shoulders.

There was a spattering of bruises along Jimin's cheekbone, the boy further sporting a black eye. His nose seemed swollen, the probable result of a punch. Despite knowing full too well that he shouldn't feel this way, Jungkook found the sight pitying. Seeing his best friend battered caused his heart to twinge, as much as he tried to repress the feeling.

Rolling his eyes, Jungkook grabbed a bag of frozen peas from the fridge before tossing them over. It seemed that Jimin was just as surprised at his show of compassion, yet he managed a small smile of gratitude.

"So? Are you planning to speak any time soon or am I just going to waste my time waiting for you to?" Jungkook made no attempt to hide his growing frustration as he spoke. "It's been close to half an hour, Jimin, and you haven't given me a single explanation yet."

In response, Jimin sighed heavily, holding the frozen peas to his bruises, "I know, and I'm sorry. There's so much to say that I don't know where to even begin." Unexpectedly, his words forced a bubble of laughter from Jungkook's throat, though he knew it was neither from amusement nor disbelief.

"How about I start for you then, Park?" Jungkook shook his head. "I know your past with Taehyung and for the longest time, I had believed it to be true. However, your past with him did not give you or me the right to play with his feelings in some sort of twisted game of revenge." There came a delicate pause. "What we did was wrong. I knew that from the beginning but at the time, my dream seemed more important."
