chapter 10 - they don't deserve you

we spent the rest of the afternoon in her room catching up on each other's lives. after that we decided to play uno.

"you lose your turn" she yelled.

"ugh fuck you Billie, not again" i said annoyed.

"not my fault i play so well" she teased me.

as i was about to tease her back my phone rang. it was Autumn. i haven't talked to them since i left for the show. they've texted me a few times but i didn't felt like texting back. well, it was time to tell them what happened. i'd skip the part of Billie and i having feelings for each other. i wanted to keep it all to myself at that moment.

"Autumn is calling me, i need to answer" i announced "do you mind if i tell them i'm here?"

"no it's fine, i'm sure they'll be worried"

i picked up the phone

"hey Skylar, i've been texting you all day. are you okay?" they asked.

"hey Autumn, well kinda" i answered.

"what happened? how was the show?"

"the show was fucking amazing, you don't even understand" i could see Billie smiling with the corner of my eye.

"i assume meeting Billie was the best thing ever, huh?" they asked with excitement in their voice.

"it was but well, it got way better. or worse i don't know" i said and smirked while looking at Billie.

"what do you mean?". they were obviously confused.

"well listen, mom and dad found out i'm gay and they kicked me out".

"WHAT?" they screamed. "ARE YOU OKAY? IM FLYING OVER TO LA RIGHT NOW".

"at first i wasn't at all. i had no where to go and well i thought about um" i mumbled.

"about?" they asked.

"about you know, ending it" i admitted with a sad tone in my voice.

Billie was listening to both sides of the conversation the entire time and i could see her smile drop the moment i spoke those words. i hated the way i caused her pain.

"Skylar are you serious?" Autumn's voice was shaking. "where are you right now? are you good?"

"um this next part might sound kinda unbelievable but as i was standing at the edge of some random bridge Billie found me and took me to her home"

"Billie like the Billie Eilish?"

"yeah she-"

"hey Autumn yes it's me the Billie Eilish. i'm trying to take good care of your friend don't worry. she had a rough night yesterday but she's better now" Billie spoke up.

"i- um- hey" Autumn stuttered in shock.

"i know this is so fucking weird but i am genuinely okay now Autumn. don't worry and don't feel guilty for not being there, okay?" i continued the convo we had before Billie's interruption.

"okay okay i'm glad. well, my mom is calling me but if you ever need anything you know i'm just a call away, okay?" they said.

"i know Autumn, thank you"

"stay safe Skylar, bye"

"bye" i said and hung up.

i didn't know whether there was something about this Billie and i had to talk about so i just suggested we continue the game.

"are you sure about that? you're gonna lose again" she said and giggled. i couldn't help but giggle as well. "i was thinking we can go on a drive or something and take something to eat. it's almost 7pm now. i don't wanna stay in till we sleep" she recommended and i agreed with her.
