Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons

Chapter 16

Merida's POV

I lift my head as I hear a small moan. I look up just in time to see Hiccup's eyes slowly flutter open. As his gaze tries to focus I throw my arms around his neck withou a thought. I drag back just as fast and looks into his emerald eyes.

"Hi... How are you feeling?" I say quietly. He looks at me puzzled.

"Em... Okay I guess?" He looks away but I can see pain in his eyes. "How's everyone else?" I can't believe it. The fight hade been almost two days ago and when everything collapsed only Hiccup and the nightfury had been inside. We were exhousted and hurted. Toothless's tail had been ripped to pieces, Jack had a serious concussion while Rapunzel's arm is broken. All three of us had bruises and small cuts from the fight and the mountain collapse but worsts of is Hiccup. He had been basically burried and unconsios untill now. His left leg had been shattered at the weight and it couldn't be saved. He as well as Jack had hurted the head and if the guardians hadn't showed up so soon and helped us out he wouldn't have surrvived the blood lost. But still he cared about everyone else first.

"They are fine, all of us are." I say.

That's when Hiccup gasps in pain clatching his leg but realising there's nothing there at all. He doesn't say something, he just stares.

"Well..." I start not knowing what to say. "They couldn't save it..."

"Okay." Says Hiccup still looking pained. He starts too sit up but I stop him midway.

"Wait, maybe you shouldn't..." I start but gets cut of when the door opens to the room. In the doorway stands Rapunzel, Jack and all of the guardians.

"We heard voices." Says Rapunzel with a big smile. "How are you, Hiccup?" Hiccup's gaze immediately goes to Jack's wrapped head and,Rapunzel's  plastered arm.

"I thought you said everyone is okay?" He says.

"Well don't worry, this is nothing." Says Rapunzel with a gesture to her arm even though it is broken. North takes a step forward. "Well now that everyone is here I have a few things to say;" The four of us gasp as North continues with a frown: "You all disobeyed and went against our plan. You put yourself and the worlds in huge danger. You left and with perpuse sabbotaged for us guardians. You put everything and everyone in jeapordy! Everyone of you almost died!" Says North with a hand risen, the one with a naughty tatoo as the four of us looks down in emberassment. "But." North continues. "You showed powers and strength beyond our limits, you worked together against the biggest threat the worlds have ever known as a team. You showed incredible bravery and... you saved us all."

We all stare at the guardians in amazement and Jack looks like his about to say something when suddenly the dragon comes bursting through the door and jumps excidetly around the room at the sight of an awake Hiccup. Then he stops and purrs at the humans chest.

"Hey, Toothless." Says Hiccup with a wide smile and pats the dragons head.

"Ah, so you finally named him?" Smirks Jack.

Hiccup nods and the dragon, Toothless, does too as in agreement. Tooth slightly giggles, she had been so amazed of the retractable teeth.  Then Hiccup watches what's left of Toothless tail with a frown.

"Well looks like we're alike." He says at last. The dragon purrs and lays down at the foot of Hiccup's bed.

I blush hard as I realise I'm still holding Hiccup's hand. But I don't let go. I just don't want to. I smile and whisper so only Hiccup can hear. "I'm glad you're okay."

Hiccup's POV

The room is still spinning as my head and leg atches. Or well, what's left of my leg. I gulp as I can only immagine what will be waiting for me at home, what will my dad say? But every dark thought is erased immediately as I see Meridas smile and hear her whisper "I'm glad you're okay." I,smile towards her whispering;

"I'm glad you are too."

I feel how I relax as she presses my hand.

"So, what now?" Asks Jack as he grab Rapunzel's hand and sits next to us on the window frame.

North smiles at us.

"Well for now, you have all earned some peace and rest. Your families are worried sick and you should probably go home to say you're okay." Says Tooth and looks escpecially towards Rapunzel when saying that. She just blushes and looks away.

"So what will we tell them?" At that the guardians looks at each other with determination.

"We're sorry but you can't tell them what really happened. Your world isn't ready to know how big the universe really is yet. Not even your families would belive you and they would think you've hurt your heads or something." Says Bunny, gesturing to Jack and I. I realise my head is wrapped up too. I pats Toothless and scratch him behind the ears waiting for Bunny to continue. But he doesn't say something more.

"So that's just it? What about our powers!" Asks Merida when Bunny is silent.

"The four of you are the strongest indevids I have ever seen. Pitch Black is gone but there is still danger out there. Your powers will remain and if... When you are needed the Man in Moon will call you. Put I suggest you tell your famillies that you got stu cked for a week under ground and managed to escape. Don't show your powers to anyone, it could be dangerous and whatever you do... Stick together. Becouse you'll need each other." Says North comforting.

"We will." Says Jack.

"No mather what happens." Finish Rapunzel and kisses Jack's cheek. Jack answers with a goofy smile.

"And Hiccup..." Starts Tooth. "I'm sorry but you will need to go to a hospital for a time. Jack will too, we don't have the same technology that earth has got. You two need human help." Jack looks at me with a encouraging smile. I smile back. But then what? I don't have money to pay hospital bills even though I feel I really need it. Jack doesn't have it either. Rapunzel seems to read our worried minds and says: "Don't worry guys, I'll pay for it." I feel how I wince.

"Uh, uh no way Punzie, I won't let you..." Starts Jack but Rapunzel just smiles.

"You and Hiccup needs it and I want to help you guys. You both saved my life different times, remember?"

"Rapunzel, you can't..." I start but she quiets mine and Jack's prothests.

"I'll do it becouse I want to, end of discussion!" No one answers.

"So we will meet again?" Says Merida at last.

"Ofcourse we will!" Says Tooth and hugs the four of us one by one.

"But now it's time for you to go home. We'll see you soon." Sandy and North hugs around aswell but Bunny just nods saying 'see ya' while Jack mumbles 'Ah, thinks he's to cool' to Rapunzel who giggled and hugs the bunny either way.

Soon North goes out for a moment, fetching a wheelchair for me. I try to sit up but feel my vision goes blurry at the movement. I blush really hard as North in one move lifts me up under my arms and puts me carefully in the wheelchair. I hear Merida's quiet laugh and my blush grows even deeper. I but my lip not to groan in pain our to laugh as well.

"Are you ready?" Asks North as we all nod. "Okay then." He says as he opens up a portal with a red snowglobe.

"Take care!" I hear Tooth say before Rapunzel and Jack goes through the portal with waves. Merida takes the handle of the chair and pushes me towards it. I whisper "Thanks..." Before we disappear through the portal Merida kisses my forehead whispering "Any time." back to me. And suddenly the four of us is standing in Rapunzel's living room.

"We're back." Whispers Rapunzel.

"Yeah, looks like we are..." I answer.

"I can't believe it's over." Says Jack looking around the room. Merida shakes her head with a smile.

"No. It has only just begun."

I can't believe the story is already over, I've had so much fun with this book :'(
