"What the F*CK is she doing here?" you sneer.
A girl with short, badly bleached blonde hair and a skirt that's 2 sizes too small stands in the front of the class, introducing herself as the new transfer student.
"I'm Sayuri Yamamoto. Nice to meet you all!" she says, smiling sweetly.
Everyone in the class, particularly the guys, looked thrilled at the sight of her. You were able to see straight through that fake, devilish grin of hers, though. Sayuri Yamamoto was the childhood bully of Mina since elementary school and you had to kick her ass (with words of course, mostly) many a time. At the end of middle school, you couldn't be happier that she was moving away because of her dad's job and so you would be rid of seeing her for the rest of your life.
Yet here she was.
You look over at Mina to see that her face is completely drained of color and she was staring down at her desk. Your eyes pan to the volleyball boys behind you. Atsumu looks like an excited puppy with a new toy, Suna looks disinterested (as he should), and even Osamu looks slightly intrigued.
"Why don't you sit next to Y/N-san near the back? There's an empty seat there," the homeroom teacher points.
God, no. Please let me just pass away, you think. Sayuri saunters over, excentuating the sway of her hips and sits in the desk next to you.
Morning classes begin and throughout it, you had to control yourself from breaking your pencil.
Finally during break, you take Mina out into the hallways, fuming.
"I can't believe she transferred here and to our class of all the classes this school has," you complain.
Mina still looks shook but she tries to calm you down. "It's okay.. maybe she's changed, you know? People can change."
"Ok but not that much. She's probably still the same cold-hearted, arrogant asshole she was her whole life."
At that moment, Sayuri finds the both of you in the hallway.
"Wow, it's been a while, Y/N," she says slyly. "How's it been without me?"
"Like heaven on earth," you reply sharply. "Except looks like now God let out the demons to crawl out from hell. A certain bitch in particular."
"Psh, salty and vulgar as always," Sayuri says. Leaning over, she looks at Mina who had taken a step behind you. "Oh hey, Mina. Didn't see you there." Mina gives a really nervous smile and I almost reprimand her for even acknowledging Sayuri's existence. Years of trauma of being called horribly mean nicknames in class, her belongings getting stolen, and getting physically assaulted after school were memories she tried to forget and repress for so long, and now they were probably coming back to her in waves.
"Don't fcking talk to her, you sadistic wh*re," you snap.
She tsks and crosses her arms. "You know, we should've been friends growing up. Our families are tied in a way. Your parents and mine are good business partners so it would've been perfect, wouldn't it've? But nooo, you had to go defend your little pathetic friend here whose family comes from nothing. I don't understand what benefit you get from hanging out with her." She sneers ugly at Mina and you step in front of her face.
The Miya twins and Suna step out of the classroom, noticing our little reunion and start walking over.
"Shut up." They stop in their tracks at the tone of your voice. "Just stay out of our way and don't speak to either of us from now on. For once in your life, stop being a nuisance."
You walk in the opposite direction, pushing past Sayuri with your shoulder to make her stumble. But of course.. she makes it a bigger deal than it really is and dramatically falls down, crying "AH!"
Mina quickly follows behind you as a group of boys come to help Sayuri, asking if she's ok. You turn around a corner before you can hear her annoying voice again when you run straight into someone.
"OW! HEY, watch where you're- Oh, Kita. Sorry about that.." you trail off. He grabs you by the shoulders to steady you.
"Hmm. What's going on? You look upset," Kita says. Mina catches up and sees the two of you.
"Oh, Kita. Hello.." she says. The Miya twins and Suna, who were also following you and Mina, join the group.
Atsumu pipes up, "Dude. The hell was that? You two got beef with the new girl already?"
Your head turns in his direction, ready to cuss him out when you release a pent up screech and storm off to the roof of the school. Mina looks too scared to follow and instead clings to Osamu for support as her knees start to buckle. Kita looks at her then says, "I'll go talk to her. You guys stay with Mina," and he chases after you.
You reach the top of the stairs and blast through the door that leads to the roof. Going to the edge of the building, you stand and look off into the distance, trying to clear your head. A strong wind meets you and you let down your ponytail to let it flow freely. You close your eyes, taking a deep breath in and then out. It calms you down a bit, and you instantly feel a little better. It's been a while since you got so riled up like that. Just a few minutes longer to not think about anything...
"Y/N."
"Kita," you say matter-of-factly, not turning around.
He stands next to you, not saying anything else. It's like he knows that you don't want to talk right now. He consistently surprises you with his intuition.
A few minutes pass by and you feel so much better after fully calming down. Taking one more breath in, you let it all the way out.
"Want to head back now?" Kita asks. You nod and he squeezes your hand then leads you to the door. With that small gesture, he has such a calming effect on you and you wonder how he can affect you so.
