You take about two steps while rolling up your sleeves when you cut in front of Sayuri.

"No one told me the circus was coming around today. And you look like the star act, you freaking clown," you sneer.

Sayuri crosses her arms around her chest and rolls her eyes. "Always stepping in at the most opportune times, don't you Y/N? I was just asking Osamu-boo here if he was free tonight for dinner.. and dessert." She narrows her eyes and licks her lips in an attempt to be seductive.

You take a look at Osamu, and he sheepishly says, "I was going to decline, Y/N. I can handle this.. I- I love Mina."

Before you can say anything sharp, a group of the Inarizaki players show up with Kita at the front, seeing the tense situation. They've all been informed of the little.. screw up.. between Osamu and Sayuri, and they all look immediately uncomfortable.

"What's going on here?" Aran asks.

As an aside, Suna quietly chips in, "Are y'all about to fight?" He pulls out his phone as if ready to record. What the heck.

Kita shoots him a glare and Suna lowers his phone, muttering an apology. The captain catches your gaze, seeming to question you with his eyes.

"Nothing's going on here," you start saying. In your periphery, you see Mina and Momo have come to join the crowd.

"Osamu.." Mina sees Sayuri and instantly her brows furrow in distress. This only fuels your anger, thinking about how much Sayuri has troubled your friend.

"Mina," Osamu replies, and he walks over to take her in his arms.

Sayuri follows him with her eyes, pouting.

"You're not welcome here," you say intimidatingly, hands clenching into fists.

She whips her hair behind her and turns on her heels. "I was just leaving anyways. But it's a free country, I can come whenever I want to and you can't do anything about it."

Right as she's about to walk away, you strategically step on the back of her flip flop. With a shriek, she falls forward on her face and breaks the flimsy footwear along the way. Shakily getting up onto her elbows, she turns her head to you. She has dirt covering her forehead and her eyes are tinged red with anger.

"Why you f*cking-" she starts to spit out, but remembering she was in front of an audience, she composes herself and stands up. She dusts herself off and says in a calmer voice, "Childish as always, Y/N. I'll let it slide this once." She finally leaves, holding her broken flip flop in her right hand.

Once she's out of earshot, some of the guys start cracking up.

"Holy crap, Y/N!" Gin exclaims. "Remind me to never get on your nerves."

"Yeah, same!" Aran says.

You smirk at them but your moment of triumph ends when you see Kita's disappointed look.

Everyone starts to head home and he takes you aside. "I know, I know," you say. "Even if she is an evil person and has nothing to contribute to this world.. That was wrong of me to do."

Instead of reprimanding you like you expected, he put his hand on your head. "As long as you're aware. But, and I hate to admit it, that was just the slightest bit satisfying to witness."

You beam and he chuckles, bringing you into a hug. "No more violence though."

You snuggle into chest. "Mmm, yeah. We'll see."

The months roll by with school, volleyball practice and training the new girl Momo, and learning to live with Mina. She still hasn't contacted her parents who in turn have not reached out to her either. That was a family situation you didn't feel right butting into, and you knew that they would be able to figure it out given time.

You were able to get out a few times to hangout with Kita, but not as much as you had liked because you were devoting a lot of your time to Mina, who's baby bump was starting to show at 5 months. But your bf was very understanding and told you not to worry about it. He is a literal God send as a partner, and you felt so lucky to have him. Most boys his age were not this mature and patient.

Right now you and he were sitting on top of his truck, looking up at the night sky on a hill overlooking the city. He had taken you here before, and you both decided it was the "go-to" spot.

"You really can't see the stars at all here," you laugh.

"Yeah, I told you this but you didn't believe me," Kita replies. "It's impossible to see stars when the city has so many lights."

"Mhmm I know, I know. A girl can wish though can't she?" you say as you lean your head on his shoulder. He takes your hand and intertwines his fingers with yours.

"So, how's she doing?" he asks, referring to Mina.

"She's doing as well as she could be," you explain. "Osamu's with her tonight so she's definitely not lonely. Apparently his parents were very chill about the whole thing when he announced to them that he was gonna be a teen dad."

Kita nods. "That makes sense. Mr. and Mrs. Miya are very nice people. I'm sure they'll do everything they can to help Mina and Osamu out as well."

"That's really reassuring, actually."

You turn to him and he to you. Leaning down, he tilts your chin up and plants a soft kiss on your lips. He's always so gentle, something you've come to love about him.

He then says, "Any plans for summer break?"

"No.. I don't think I'll have much time for anything. Gotta take care of Mina.. who apparently is due right at the end of break according to her doc. But I'm also kind of stressed about the upcoming Tokyo all-star training course that we have to prep for. To be honest I don't really even know what it is."

Kita nods. "Right. The training course is a 2-week long ordeal. All the best teams in Tokyo and neighboring prefectures get to attend and basically play against and train with each other the entire time. It was really good for the team last year."

You gasp. "That sounds really intense.." Kita sees your grimace and chuckles.

"It's at the very beginning of summer so we can at least get it out of the way. Plus, you have Momo to help you out. She's been picking things up really quickly," he reassures you, rubbing your back.

"Yeah, I suppose. " You yawn widely, stretching your arms out.

"Let's get you home, it's getting late. I didn't even realize it," Kita says, ushering you inside his truck. You get into the passenger side and he gets in the driver's side. He wheels out of the area with his right hand, his left hand on your thigh.

You giggle.

"What?" he asks.

"Nothing. I just adore you."

You see him slightly smirk while his eyes stay on the road.

"I adore you, too."
