Ch. 10 - Curiosity

"WAKE UP LOVEBIRDS!"

You're jolted awake by Atsumu's lovely shout. However, it wasn't directed at you (Thank the gods) but towards Osamu and Mina who had been sleeping on each other.

When you look to your side at Kita, you see he's already awake. In fact, it seemed like he had been watching while you slept like a log. You had still been leaning your head on his shoulder so you quickly get off of him.

"Sorry, I hope I didn't hinder your sleep," you say apologetically.

"No worries. I slept fine. I usually wake up at 5:30 though so I've been up since then," he replies.

An early riser. For some reason, you aren't surprised in the least. "Ah, I see."

The bus comes to a stop and everyone starts to gather their things. In a single file line, you all get off the vehicle and walk towards the campus building where the training camp is been held. Apparently it's a small college so there will be dorms with actual beds.

Once you all had settled in and gotten ready for the day, you and Mina meet up with the team and the other teams as well at the main gym. The players are all on one end and you look to the other to see the other teams' managers gathered in their own circle.

A girl with short, blonde hair in a neon green Itachiyama t-shirt spots you both and gestures for you to come on over.

"Hi, Inarizaki, right?" she asks.

"Yeah, that's us!" Mina pipes up. "I'm Mina!"

"Y/N," you say, nodding in greeting.

"I'm Aki, Itachiyama's manager! Nice to meet you both," she says, smiling. Indicating to the other managers, she introduces us to them as well. In total there are 4 teams, Itachiyama has one manager and the rest of the teams have 2 managers each.

Aki stands by you. "How's it been managing your team? I assume it's your first time because Inarizaki didn't have managers last time. I'm a 2nd year so I've been here since last year."

You nod. "Yeah, it's Mina and my first time managing. It's been pretty chill so far. The guys can be dumb sometimes but that's just a given."

Aki laughs at your comment. "Haha! I'd rather they be dumb than arrogant bastards. Cough*Sakusa*cough."

"Sakusa.. isn't he your ace?? Which one is he?" you ask.

"He's the one in the mask and curly hair. Dude has a serious case of OCD but he's one of the top players in Japan," Aki explains. You spot him immediately because he stands out like a sore thumb.

"One of the top players, huh.. that's pretty cool. Your team must be really good then," you reply.

She shrugs. "Yeah, we are pretty strong. I'll have you know, though, the best thing we are known for is our awesome school colors," she says sarcastically, pinching her bright shirt.

You both start laughing. Aki seems like a cool gal, you think to yourself.

The day goes by in a breeze, the teams having done individual team drills and then playing scrimmages the rest of the time.

You had been taking notes on Inarizaki's performance. The twins were playing well, but when they were doing really well in one match, they were pretty much hogging the ball and leaving out the other players. Suna's read-blocking was on point; his spikes could use more force, though.. how could he improve on that? Aran's spikes were great and Gin too was playing well. Kita was stable as always.

When the matches are over, everyone proceeds to doing individual practice. It's amazing how they can play for hours on end and still want to do more. Mina is picking up the stray balls on the court.
