"Well he was certainly in a worse mood than usual." Mina declared as the two girls walked towards their classes.

"You're still on this?" Maddy asked. "Wait, who?"

"Oh, uh, no one." Mina shook her head.

"Liar, spill!" Maddy grinned. "C'mon."

"I meant Zelan." Mina huffed.

"Oh, right. You guys share classes, was he mad?" Maddy asked. "I've never actually seen him angry before."

Mina shrugged. "Not sure if you wanna know"

"Why, was he telling Ant off, if so, I'm more than happy." Maddy smirked, her face lighting up.

"Funny." Mina rolled her eyes. "But yeah. He got mad at Ant for being so nasty to you."

"Ant's always nasty to me, it's how we roll." Maddy narrowed her eyes.

"If I didn't know better, which I don't, I'd say you're defending him." Mina teased. "Also, I heard something strange, about you two-"

"That is a long and complicated story in which I was totally innocent and one which i do not wish to share right at this time." Maddy started, earning a laugh from her best friend.

"So you admit there was something?" Mina grinned.

"I admit nothing!" Maddy grinned back.

"What shit are you spouting now?" Ant's voice interrupted their conversation. "You know I think Zelan might actually like you. Went around a minute ago spouting some bullshit about how you deserve me to be nice to you."

"I don't care." Maddy shrugged, even though his words stung past her tough exterior. Why hadn't she-

"I mean why would anyone like you, you're a slut." Ant said nonchalantly.

Maddy's eyes widened at his harsh words. He was hungover, clearly, but that was no reason to say something so nasty. Where had he even come from anyway? "I'm sorry you feel that way." She finally responded as quietly as she could manage.

"You're such an asshole!" Mina shrieked.

"Mina leave it." Maddy said.

"No! I got no fucking clue what happened because I respect her enough to leave it. God help me Anteaus, just because you got money doesn't mean you can treat the rest of us like crap." Mina yelled.

Maddy eyed him as Mina defended her. He looked......Lost. Still, she couldn't help the tears that slipped from her eyes at his words. Ant seemed to notice and he had the good grace to attempt to apologise.

"Save it!" Maddy snapped. "I did nothing to you. Meanwhile you've been a total dick this entire time and now you're fucking sorry? Go jump off a cliff Ant, see if I fucking care. I'd call your parents and take fucking responsibility."

Ant looked shocked at her outburst. He pulled something out of his bag and took a sip, sauntering away from them in the empty hallway. "Girl are you ok?"

"Yep." Maddy nodded. "Fine."

Mina didn't look like she believed her but Maddy didn't care. She was sure he was hungover and he had only proved to her how immature and jerky he was. Maddy clenched her jaw, trying to calm herself down. If there was one constant in her life, it was how badly she hated Ant Nekton, and he'd just proved that point, thoroughly.
