The next day at the barrens.

I get to the barrens a little early like maybe twenty minutes early, so I walk around in the large pipe for a little, while listening to my Walkman with my Journey Greatest hits cassette. I take my flash light and shine it on the water wondering if I could find anything suddenly shining it on a white shoe, my eyes widen as I pick it up. I remove my headphones and read the name on the inside of the shoe, muttering the name underneath my breath.

"B Ripson." I wonder if this was a missing kids shoe hoping it wasn't, when suddenly I hear a bickering near by from a familiar voice. It was the guys I'd met yesterday, I shove my Walkman in my pocket gripping my flashlight tightly in case I'm wrong and it was that bully from yesterday as well. I step outside the tunnel seeing Bill and the others, I step quietly to the boys and tap Bill on the shoulder accidentally scaring him. Oops...

"J-Jesus! Y/n, you s-scared me." Bill responded making me giggle a bit at his reaction, he smiles at me and I smile back Richie clearing his throat bringing me back to reality.

"Right um I found this and there's a name on the inside" I say handing Bill the sneaker.

"That's not-" Stanley starts.

"No G-Georgie wore galoshes." Bill says confusing me. 'who's Georgie?'

"Than who's sneaker is it?" Richie asks.

"It says B Ripson on the inside of the shoe." I state.

"Betty Ripson" Richie says loudly as if I was stupid, I mean you can't blame me I only just moved here and I don't know anything about the missing kids. Or who Georgie and Betty were, all I know is that they're missing kids and they're dragging this towns joy down.

"Do you think that they're still down there?" Stanley asks and I knew that the answer was no I'd been walking around in that dump truck forever. Bill walks towards the pipe but I grab his wrist and shake my head.

"There's nothing down there, and even if the kids were down there it's straight directions, so they would've made it out already." I say letting go of Bill's wrist pulling my hand back crossing my arms across my chest.

"Even if they're down there, what if I don't wanna find them?" Eddie asks earning a glare from everyone except me, I can't judge I mean this is Hannibal Lector shit, "I mean no offense but I don't want to end up like G- I don't want to go missing either."

"He's got a point," Stanley says.

"You to?" Bill asks shocked.

"It's summer. We're kids we should be having fun, this isn't this is scary and-" Stanley started being cut off by a loud splash from behind us.
