I sat down at my desk and examined my bracelet while I waited for the final bell to ring. It was a darker green again and no matter how I moved it in the light it didn't change color.
"Whatcha doing?" Chloe asked, leaning her head over my shoulder.
"Jesus!" I jumped pulling my wrist back down and taking a second to breath. "Just...admiring the bracelet." I responded with a smile, she looked me over with a confused look and sat back in her seat.

No matter how hard I tried I spent the entire class period thinking about what had happened earlier. I might as well not even showed up to class with how little I learned.

Gently pulling back the clasp I took off the bracelet and set it in a box in my locker. With nothing else working maybe taking it off entirely would take my mind off of it. Closing the locker I turned to see Clark standing across the hallway with Chloe and Pete, they seemed to be deep in conversation but Clark was focused on me.
He quickly looked down when I met his gaze but he knew I saw him. I could feel the awkward tension between us as Chloe and Pete walked past me Clark following behind slowly.

"Hey...wait, Clark." I started reaching out and tugging on the back of his jean jacket. He flinched at first, looking down at my wrist, but turned around quickly. "How are you feeling, I swear you were about to get sick earlier." I asked leaning against my locker.

He awkwardly smiled and looked down before responding.
"I don't know, I probably just ate something wrong for breakfast." He responded looking back up at me. I felt myself smiling unknowingly as his cheeks flushed. Looking away I tried to hide the redness of my own cheeks when I heard a familiar voice walk behind Clark.

"Clark...what's going on here?" Taylor asked in a demeaning but confused manor. I rolled my eyes and immediately felt myself go back to normal as I turned, a fake smile appearing on my face.
"Taylor, we just bumped into each other that's all." I said, still trying to hold a smile on my face.
"Ya, uh, I'll see you around Sadie." Clark turned and hurried down the hallway.

Taylor watched him angrily as he disappeared into the crowd of people.
"What was that about Taylor?" I asked, the smile dropping from my face.
"Oh don't even get like that, you were all over him." He responded angrily. Dumbfounded I didn't even know how to respond to him.
"I can't deal with you right now, I'm walking home." I responded storming off as the bell to leave rang.

I didn't live close to here at all, a good fifteen to twenty minutes when driving and who knows how long on foot. But I'd rather put up with it then have to share a car with Taylor. I came up on the bridge that was halfway between the town and my house and took a second to breathe sitting up on the ledge.
I hadn't realized till now that I'd left my bracelet in my locker. Kicking a rock out of my way, I jumped back down from the ledge.

Other than when I'd lost it I hadn't really been without it, it was the last thing my brother had given me before he left for the army. He said he'd found a collection of meteor rocks in the woods and couldn't part with them.
Jamie being gone was a big factor in the strain of me and Taylor's relationship. While they were never particularly close Jamie kept me sane and without him I was unraveling at every point, and worried sick he won't come home one day.

After a few minutes, I'd almost reached my house as a blue Porsche sped past me at an ungodly speed. I jumped out of the way as it continued down the road. I squinted as I made out the Metropolis tags on the back, nobody from Metropolis ever drove through Smallville unless they had a reason to be here.
I waited for my heart to stop racing before I collected my books and stood up, but it wasn't a second later that I heard loud screeching and a crash. There wasn't anybody on this road for miles and no matter how low of a human they could be I couldn't leave them there.

Ditching my backpack and books in a pile of leaves I booked it back in the direction of the bridge. If it was as bad as it sounded they should be stuck under water and I knew I couldn't make it in time. But it didn't stop me from running after them.
A large hole and bent metal was left where the ledge I'd been sitting on minutes ago used to be. I looked over the hole into the water, I searched for my phone as someone surfaced.

"Clark!" I yelled in surprise as I rushed over the hill of dirt and slid down to him. He dragged behind him a man in a black shirt, with an all too familiar bald head. The Luthors were notorious in smallville for not being the best people. Clark pulled him closer to me as he bent down and performed mouth to mouth.
Standing back in suspense I waited and watched as Lex shot forward spitting out water. He doubled over coughing before turning around to see Clark.

"I...I hit you." Lex squinted looking up at Clark. Looking over at him confused, Clark seemed to fumble on his words.
"Well if you did, I'd be dead." He responded in a joking manner to lighten the mood. I rolled my eyes as I walked carefully down to them. Kneeling beside Lex on the opposite side of Clark, I helped sit him up.
"Lex, Lex Luthor." He mumbled quietly squinting in pain.
     "Clark Kent." Clark responded.
"A Kent?" Lex said surprised looking over at him.

Letting them have their moment, I stood up and pulled out my phone calling 9-1-1.
"I swear I hit you." Lex continued standing up and looking Clark up and down. It was impossible for him to have hit him, Clark didn't have a scratch on him. He'd have to be some type of Superman. Clark just rubbed the back of his neck and ignored him as he walked over to me.

"They'll be here soon, just say the Luthor name and you get premium service." I joked  putting my hand up to block my eyes from the sun. Clark laughed quietly in response as he sat down on the dirt.
"Well...I've got a long walk back home, and my parents are probably already losing it." I said turning to look at the road.
"Do you want me to walk you home?" Clark asked standing up quickly and walking over to me.
"No I'm ok, plus you can't leave him alone." I smirked looking over at Lex, he was still focused on Clark.
"Are you sure you wanna walk alone, why isn't Taylor driving you?" He continued asking. I shook my head quietly and looked down.

"I'll see you around Clark." I finally responded after a moment of silence. "I really do hope to see you around." I added waving as I climbed back up the dusty hill. A quick wave to Lex and I finally set back off to where I'd left my backpack.

What could Lex possibly mean by he knows he hit Clark, like with his car? That would be utterly impossible for a human to survive. And why did I feel so much freer around him, like I could be me.
