I opened my eyes, slowly regaining consciousness as I looked around. It was still pitch black outside so I couldn't have been out for long, my head was killing me from being upside down for so long.
"Lex...Lex wake up." I pleaded, shaking his arm. He was out cold, a cut on his brow bled slowly and dripped onto the roof of the car. Struggling with the seat belt I tried desperately to release it.
"Come on!" I exclaimed, gritting my teeth as I messed with the buckle of the seat belt. Finally it popped out, dropping hard against the roof of the car I struggled to recover.
"Ugh, come on Lex wake up." I tried again, my energy running low. It was no use though, kicking through the rest of the broken glass, and crawling out of the window I looked aimlessly in the dark for anybody.

My ankle was killing me and I had the worst headache known to man, but suddenly through the darkness of the road someone walked in front of the wavering headlights.
"Hey! Hey can you help us!" I yelled out to the figure as I limped towards the front of the car. "Sir?" I asked again, suddenly a feeling of fear washed over me as he remained silent.

Backing away from him, I tried as hard as I could to keep my eyes on him.
"Lex! Now would be a great time for you to wake up!" I yelled loudly trying to make as much noise as possible.
"Lex!" I yelled, stumbling backwards on a piece of metal and hitting the ground hard. I kept trying to get anybody's attention.  He kept getting closer, but still I couldn't see who he was.

"Help! Someone help!" Pleading I tried to push myself away from him but he was upon me now and I knew I couldn't fight him. I closed my eyes and turned my head away from him as I waited for something, anything to happen. But all I heard was the sound of a struggle and almost silence.
"Clark...oh thank god!" I exclaimed in relief, jumping to my feet almost forgetting my pain. He wrapped his arms around me for a quick moment but turned just to be met with the same man walking towards us again.

"Get Lex out of the car." He said calmly as he turned to face the man. I limped around the car and kneeled down beside Lex's window. It wasn't broken like mine and there was no possible way for me to get it open. Turning and grabbing a large rock I just began hitting the window, over, and over, and over again, doing anything I could to release my anger.
As it finally shattered and I looked around for Clark, but I noticed he wasn't anywhere in sight.
"Guess I'm doing this alone." I mumbled, pulling my torso into the driver's side and positioning myself in front of Lex. Reaching over I fought with his buckle until it finally popped, hurriedly I dropped my arms below his head to stop him from hitting it too hard.

Struggling to pull him back out of the window the sound of footsteps approaching the car could mean one of two things. Stopping in front of the window I held my breath and waited.
"Let me help you with that." Clark said, bending down to the window's height and placing his hands under Lex's arms.
"This is the last time I get in a Porsche with a Luthor." I smiled as I climbed out of the window trying to lighten the mood, tiny pieces of glass stuck in my hands as I stood up.

"Clark, your shirt, What happened?" I asked looking at the burned pieces of fabric, it was like he'd been electrocuted.
"It's nothing, he's not gonna come back, don't worry." Clark responded, lifting Lex's arm over his shoulders and dragging his weight effortlessly beside him.
"I think I'm breaking a record for most Lex Luthor life saves in one day." He laughed as we walked back in the direction of his house. I limped slowly trying to keep up with him.
"Maybe he's not as bad as I thought he was, nobody's truly who you think they are." I said quietly in response. Clark looked over at me as we continued walking.

"What...happened when you left?" He asked, lifting Lex up a little higher. I looked over at him contemplating if I should respond.
"I've always tried to be perfect...to keep my mother happy, but she still chose Taylor." I said, stopping for a moment to breath, "She wants me to have everything she had, but she wants it to be her way...she thinks I'm crazy for being scared of him." I finished leaning against the wooden fence as Clark opened the gate.
"I'm real sorry Sadie, I didn't know-," he started,
"Don't be, it's my mess, and it's not bad I could have it way worse." I responded, cutting him off with a smile.

We neared his front door and I opened it for him, Martha immediately rushed over to us. She sat me down at the kitchen table while Clark laid Lex on the couch.
"I'll call the police, they'll have to clean up the car out there." Clark said standing up, Martha brought a wet rag over to me and searched for some bandages in the cabinets.
"Sweetie, would you like me to call your mom, she should know." Martha asked, setting a roll of bandage on the table and some bandaids next to it.
"Please...not right now, I'd rather deal with her tomorrow." I pleaded holding the rag up to a cut I had on my cheek. Martha looked at Clark for a moment but looked back at me and nodded.
"How's your ankle, I noticed you limping?" Clark asked walking back over to lex with a rag and water.

"It hurts, a lot." I responded, reaching down to rub my ankle. Martha motioned with her hand for me to lift it up on the chair next to her. Pulling off my boot and lifting the hem of my jeans to look at my ankle.
"Luckily, I don't think it's broken...but it's definitely sprained." She said applying pressure to it, wincing I nodded as I laid my head against the table.

"How's Lex?" Martha asked looking over at Clark.
"Bleeding...but he should be fine by the time the cops get here." Clark responded standing up and bringing the bowl back into the kitchen.

Martha walked over to the couch to supervise Lex as Clark sat down next to me.
"How's your head?" He asked, I raised my head to look at him.
"Killing me, I've definitely learned my lesson about getting in a car with him." Clark smiled, still examining me.

"Would you like some water, maybe an Advil?" He asked again, I nodded softly holding my head in my hands. Standing up he grabbed some medicine and slid me a glass of water.
"Thank you." I mumbled swallowing the Advil and looking up at him again. "Really, thank you...I don't know what would've happened if you didn't show up." I added, I still hadn't figured out how he appeared out of thin air but it wasn't worth asking, and thinking just made my head hurt even more.

"Thank god tomorrow's Saturday." I laughed, Clark smiled in response. A muffled groan came from Lex's direction as he lifted his hands slowly to rub his eyes.
"Well good morning." Martha said standing up and switching places with Clark.
"Ugh, what happened?" He questioned trying to sit himself up, I could see his head over the couch now but nothing more.
"Well...you wrecked the Porsche." Clark responded, Lex seemed to snap back to reality as he searched the room relaxing when he locked eyes with me.
"Someone walked into the road, they came back after the crash...I was scared to death, and you wouldn't wake up." I started, recounting everything that had happened and internally freaking out relieving those moments. I only snapped out of it when Martha placed her hand on my shoulder.
"Clark, your fathers still out in the barn, I'm gonna go explain...whatever this is." Martha smiled standing up and leaving the house.
"The cops should be here soon, Sadie are you sure you don't want to tell your mom." Clark asked looking over the couch at me. Nodding I turned back and examined my cup of water.

"Don't worry about the cops, I can handle them."
Lex added sitting up fully.
"Can you even think straight?" Clark questioned, "it's your second crash in the span of a day...that's not normal." Clark finished looking him over.
"I wish I could say this is a new record." He responded pushing himself into a standing position and steadying himself on the couch.

"Are you ok?" Lex asked, looking me over. I looked over at him tired of repeating myself.
"I'm fine Lex, thanks for asking." I smiled turning back to my water and rubbing my head.

"Hey, I guess it wouldn't hurt if you stayed in the guest bedroom." Clark said standing up, I turned to look at him with a smile and soft nod. Struggling to my feet I held onto the table for stability before Clark walked over to help me.
"Thanks." I responded quietly resting my arm on his shoulders, it didn't seem like it took much effort for him to help me up the stairs but his grasp was somehow still just as strong and calm as it had been earlier.

"I've already said it a million times, but thank you, seriously." I said once more as he helped me sit on the bed. He smiled as he walked back to the door.
"Anytime." He winked as he closed the door, outside of the excruciating pain I was in I actually felt really good. Who knew I'd be so lucky to know the local small town farm boy.
