Elijah stood in the living room in a white house, a hand on the top of the white fireplace, as Rebekah walked in, a bottle of wine in hand.

"Well, isn't this place rather nice? Nik must have compelled a wine lover to keep it up, because I found a 2005 Bordeaux." She held it up to show her elder brother, asking, "Fancy a sip?"

"Appreciate the sentiment, Rebekah," Elijah replied without turning around. "But I do recognize when I'm being handled with kid gloves."

Rebekah set the bottle of wine on the dark colored coffee table.

"How are you feeling?" she asked him.

"Patronized," he answered, turning around. Then he looked at Hope whom was in a baby play pen, before looking at Rebekah. "I am here to protect you."

"I know you mean to, Elijah."

"Yet you found it necessary...to render me unconscious before bringing me here."

"Well, you weren't yourself, and I needed to get us out of that diner," she reminded and explained to him. "What happened back there?"

"I don't know," he admitted to her, before telling her, "Niklaus sent me to protect Hope. My job is to keep her safe." He sat down on the living room couch.

Meanwhile, Kol and Davina were both at the compound working on doing a spell.

A moment later, after they'd finished, Davina told Kol, "It's finished, but I'm worried it's not enough to protect Cami's body from Esther's magic."

"I know a way to distract you from your troubled mind," Kol replied to her, seeming to not be worried like she was.

"You can take this seriously, or I can lock you in a coffin like your brother Finn, if you prefer," Marcel commented, as he walked in.

"No, I'd prefer you to bugger off. This spell needs time to cook in peace," Kol replied.

"Cami doesn't have time," Marcel reminded him. "Esther can jump anybody into her body right now."

"Yeah, but she's not gonna jump anybody," Kol informed him. "She's gonna jump Rebekah, who just happens to be miles away. But fair dues, Marcel. I think I'd be a bit testy too if my old ex was about to jump into my new ex. That would be a bit, uh—"

Before Kol could think of the right ending to that phrase and finish speaking to Marcel, Cami walked in, finishing for him, saying, "Awkward?"

"I was gonna say kinky, but—," Kol answered her.

In a blur, Marcel was in front of Kol, hands on his shirt.

"I appreciate the chivalry, Marcel, but he'll have an easier time protecting me if he's alive," Cami told Marcel, before Marcel could do anything to Kol.

Marcel let him go and then told him, "Keep working," before leaving, which Cami followed suit.

Kol watched them go.

"What is it with you two?" Davina wanted to know.

"It gets a bit old playing odd man out in my own family. Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah, they were always a party of three. No room for me at the table. Always seemed to be room for Marcel," he informed her. "You know that diamond? The one I showed you? That was the baby version. The one that we need to do the dagger spell, it has to be a lot bigger. A hundred years ago, I had it in my hand. Then Marcel ratted me out to Klaus, and they took it. He probably bloody-well kept it."
