Evel Knievel

Teetering on the edge,
Amidst two extremes.
I dare not look below,
For the drop is bottomless.

Adrenaline adds amps to my nerves
As jet streams jostle with my mass.
My first toes clamp down,
Much like my thumbs would,
Coiling around the cotton cord.
Their threads shafe bare skin.

I walk tall with my faith
As gasps from onlookers ricochet
Off my rebar platform.
Their concern vibrates up my bones.

This is not a stunt folks,
But it is the precipice of life.
This is what it means to be alive!
