It is a twelve hour journey from the shores of Swardani to Yorknew. After leaving at dawn, we'd arrived at Yorknew during sunset, spending the entirety of the day inside the boat.
Inside the boat had been an indoor lounge, a well-sized room that was lined in white walls and leather seats of the same color. In the center was a curved table, and on the center was a laptop that was connected to a service onboard. Seeing that, I'd connected my Hunter's License onto the laptop, and browsed the site in order to acquire new clothing.
My Hunter's License was tucked away inside the singular pocket that was sewed onto the hospital gown. After searching the website, I'd settled on a new outfit that I would pickup once I'd landed in Yorknew. The outfit consisted of a black, snakeskin, leather jacket. Similar to my last outfit, I now have a belt that was customized to sheath a numerous blades. In order to complement the coat, I'd ordered pants that were the same shade.
Though the outfit was similar to my last, I no longer wore my rings. Instead, there were miniature bottles that were sold alongside the belt, which was sewed to be able to hold them. I'd settled on ordering a few packets of gunpowder in order to fill the flasks.
Then, at Machi's request, I'd reluctantly allowed her to tattoo the Spider's mark onto my skin, just on my hip. Using her needles, Machi steadily imprinted the symbol, and the number 9 was in the center. After wiping off the beads of blood on my skin, she'd given a hint of a smile, and returned above deck.
Now, I, as well as the other Spiders that accompany me to Yorknew, sit inside a limousine that is leading us directly to the Yorknew auction center. The auction begins in about an hour, and I admire the skyline of the city as I lean against the window of the car. My breath creates fog on the cool glass, and blurs the view.
The Spiders are all dressed in tuxedos in order to blend into the Mafia, as well as others that will attend. I'd also worm black, combat boots that rose to my ankles alongside my new clothing, however in regards to the new plan, I now wear a floor length dress with a slit on the left side of my leg. Under flowing fabric is a thigh holster that straps a Ben's blade and handgun onto my leg.
In order to infiltrate the auction, Machi and I had gone through the list of mafia families in attendance. There, we'd singled out a family that will have access to the backstage. It was a moderately sized group of two members, and four bodyguards, under the family name 'Nostrade'. The replacement of the Nostrades was designated to Phinks and I, which is why I now wear a dress and heels.
Nobunaga sits at the wheel, steering at a moderate pace, while muttering under his breath as the car swerves around traffic. All around the large skyscraper are mafia members and their luxurious cars. The entirety of the auction is under strict surveillance.
It is not until twenty minutes later that we arrive at a parking area. Vast concrete and cars line up half a mile away from the building, and we begin to walk towards the front of the parking lot. In the front are reserved areas for mafia families, and the Nostrade family is included. The names of the families are written on plaques that are displayed before their cars.
The designated space for the Nostrade family remains empty, however it isn't long until a screech of tires turns into the parking area. The driver, a man with a rather large chin and excessive amount of facial hair, frowns from behind the wheel when he sees us. He is most likely a Hunter, as he seems to be the leader of the group of bodyguards, consisting of about three. The others mindlessly open their doors, and pause momentarily upon noticing us.
Without hesitation, Nobunaga unsheathes his sword and decapitates the man with a single hit. Feitan swiftly kills the others in indiscreet stabs. The last person in the car is the mafia family member. There is a middle-aged man in a tailored suit. His grey hair is gelled back and the mustache that rests upon his lips is neatly trimmed. I recognize him immediately from the Hunter Website as Light Nostrade, the head of the Nostrade family.
Pressing a thread upon his neck, Machi says, "Scream, and I cut out your throat." Her voice is steady, and she is presumably unfazed. A bead of sweat drips down from the man's forehead, and he does not utter a word. His figure shakes slightly as Phinks nods over to me, and we begin to clean up the bodies.
My hands instinctively know what to do, and slipping the Ben's blade from my thigh holster, I begin to add marks onto the corpses alongside Phinks. I create new wounds to cover the identity, and from there, bag them in black, plastic wrappings. As we place the bodies into the trunk, another man approaches us, smiling,
"Large findings you got there huh? They must've been expensive," He says, nodding at the bags. His words are slurred together, and it's clear that due to the amount of alcohol he's recently consumed, he's mistaken the bodies as items from the auction. Phinks presses his lips together in order to hide his amusement, and I reply,
"They weren't really, they were on the cheap side compared to some of the other items," I gesture to the building and add, "Well, have fun in there!"
The man leaves, his face in a drunken smile, and I close the trunk. Unable to contain his laughter, Phinks snorts and says, "People these days," his eyes drift to and follow the man as he heads towards the building.
I shrug, and head into the car, that has no sign of the blood that had been spilt. There is a grudging respect that I feel for Nobunaga and Feitan to have been able to kill without leaving traces.
With all the Spiders in the car, our bodies are pressed together, as there is little space available. Light continues to shudder in fear, and Nobunaga revs the engine, and the car speeds off towards the auction.
Author's note: Thank you so much for the recent support! Again, remember to vote if you liked the chapter, and I'll see you again next time :))
