Hailey's POV
I woke up at 7am. I don't usually wake up this early, but it was my first day in Intelligence and I didn't want to be late. I got out of bed and walked into Eden's room. I turned the light on and was met with the most beautiful blue eyes staring at me. Something that I love about her is that she wakes up and doesn't cry. She sits patiently because she knows I'll be there within minutes. I walked over to her and took her out of her crib."Good morning little one." I said softly.
"Mama." She said.
"Good job baby." I said. I took her into the kitchen and sat her in her high chair. I bent down to her level.
"So missy, what do we want for breakfast?" I asked. She's only 1, so I didn't expect her to reply. She smiled as I pulled funny faces.
I made her some porridge with fruit since it's her favourite. I set it down in front of her and she started eating straight away. She's a big foodie like me. I used this time to sort my hair out and apply a little bit of make up. I stood in front of the mirror to make sure I looked okay.
Eden had finished eating so I cleaned her up. I took her into her room and was about to get her dressed when I smelt something gross.
"Did you poop?" I asked her in a child like voice. Eden giggled in response.
I picked out her clothes and sat them next to me as I changed her diaper. Eden doesn't particularly like diaper changes and getting dressed. She likes to be comfortable and not moving around. She usually cries and it breaks my heart. Today was different though. She didn't cry at all. I got her dressed for the day and looked at the time. 7:45. I had 45 minutes until I had to be at the 21st district. I was about to lift Eden up, but instead she came and crawled on my lap.
"Aww baby girl, you want cuddles?" I asked. She must've understood what I said as she leaned into me more.
"Okay baby, we will for a few minutes." I said softly. I sat in the rocking chair with her for 15 minutes before I got up and took her to the sitter's. Luckily for me, my friend Chloe is a babysitter, so I know I don't have to worry about leaving Eden in her care. I drove to Chloe's house and went inside. I said hey to her and kissed Eden on the cheek.
"I've got to go little one, I'll see you later okay." I said softly. I passed her to Chloe and headed to the 21st district. I was nervous to say the least. Intelligence is one of the most elite units in the entire CPD and Sergeant Voight wanted me personally. I sat outside in my car for a few seconds, preparing myself before going in.
"Just be your normal, smiley self hailey and everything will be okay." I said to myself. I got out of my car and walked inside the district. I walked up to the front desk and the Sergeant looked at me.
"How can I help you?" She asked.
"I'm Detective Hailey Upton, I'm t—"
"Ah, you're the new detective in Intelligence." She cut me off and I nodded.
"That's me." I replied.
"Okay, I have some paperwork for you to fill out. I'm going to have your handprint sorted out on the scanner and then I'll take you up to Intelligence." She explained and I nodded.
"Thank you Sergeant...Platt." I said, shocked at the last part. It can't be, can it?
"Platt as in Trudy Platt? Worked in robbery homicide 10 years ago? " I asked.
"Yeah that's me, why?" She asked confused.
"You don't remember me, do you?" I said and she frowned.
