Chapter 17

Jay's POV
I was in the kitchen with Eden and Olivia when Luna came stomping down the stairs, followed by hailey. Luna did not look happy.

"What's up with you?" I asked.

"It's my friend's birthday party tomorrow and I'm not allowed to go. It's not like anything's going to happen. We're 11." She huffed.

"That's not why you're not allowed. Your attitude lately has been ridiculous. You were never like it before. I'm not one to yell, and I've always been gentle with you, but if you don't lose the attitude, I will take away your phone." Hailey said and I was shocked.

She's right though. Luna has had a bad attitude recently. Hailey and I have never disciplined any of the girls, and that's because we have such a good relationship with them that we trust each other and we don't need to.

"You can't do that!" Luna replied angrily.

"I can and I will. You're not going to that party. Keep it up and your phone goes for 3 months." Hailey said. I knew it wasn't really an appropriate time, but hailey looked so hot when she was angry.

"I HATE YOU!! YOU CAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO, YOU'RE NOT MY MOM!!" Luna screamed and we were all shocked. None of us could believe she said that.

I looked at hailey and could see her heart breaking. She burst into tears and ran upstairs. I heard Luna crying downstairs saying she was sorry. I quickly went after hailey. I walked into our room to find her under the covers sobbing. I rushed over to her. I ran my finger along her cheek.

"Hey hey hey, it's okay. She didn't mean it." I said reassuringly.

"She's not wrong though, is she? I'm not her mom and I never will be. I'm just her dad's girlfriend." She said and I sighed.

"You will always be Luna's mom, even if you're not blood related. You love our middle child so much, and she loves you too." I said.

Just then, there was a knock on the bedroom door. It opened slowly and we saw Luna stood there shyly. Her face was a mess from crying. She came over to hailey and wrapped her arms around her. Luna broke down crying again.

"I'm so so sorry. I didn't mean it, please don't hate me. I don't hate you either. You're my mom and you're always going to be my mom. I love you so so much, I'm sorry that I haven't been good." She replied nearly making me cry.

Hailey returned the hug and kissed Luna's head.

"It's okay sweetheart, I love you too. I forgive you okay." She replied. God I love this woman. "Please don't cry sweet girl, you know I hate it when you cry."

Hailey began stroking Luna's her and arm. Luna stopped crying after a few minutes.

"I really didn't mean it." She said.

"It's okay." I said.

"No, it's not okay. You've been my mom for the past year. You took me in with dad like it was nothing. You help me whenever I need something. If I'm sick, you're always there to make me feel better. You'll always be my mom, no matter what. I love you." She said and I smiled.

"I love you too Luna bug." Hailey said and I smiled at the interaction between them both. I went downstairs to check on Eden and Liv.

Hailey's POV
I was sat on my bed cuddling with Luna. What she said did hurt, but I knew she didn't mean it.

"Luna, what's been going on with you? You haven't been yourself recently." I said and she stayed silent. I lifted her head with my finger.

"You know you can always talk to me right?" I said and she nodded.
