Jon's Pov

"Yeah, sure, no problem, I'll be out in a second."

"Baby, I've Gotta go talk to the police; I'll be gone a little while," I say to Cori and lean over and kiss her cheek.

"MR Bongiovi, we can talk in a small room over here" I nod and follow the police officers.

"Can you tell us about your day and what happened?"

"Well, I woke up early and decided to go for a run down the beach like I do most mornings. I came back and showered in the other bedroom, and I didn't want to disturb Cori; she looked like she needed the rest. I had a few things I needed to do in town and get in some food shopping as we began running out of food; I wrote her a note and left it on the coffee machine; it's her first stop when she gets up. After a few hours, I returned, and I opened the door. I walked in and shouted for her; I heard no reply. I walked into the kitchen, and the note was still on the coffee machine, but I had noticed patio doors were open: I went and looked outside but no sight of her. I walked through the house, checking in all the rooms, and the last one was our room. I opened the door, and she was laid there completely naked on the bed, her hands were restrained above her head, and her eyes were closed; my knees nearly gave out."

"Take your time, sir," the younger officer said, offering me a small smile.

"I ran over to the bed, untied her hands, and brought them back down by her side. I placed a blanket over her to keep her warm. I kept trying to get her to wake up, but she wouldn't; when I moved my hand under her head and felt it was warm and wet. As I pulled my hand out, and that was when I noticed the blood. Gently, I placed her head back on the pillow. I ran through and rang for an ambulance and then went back to her side till the paramedics arrived. I looked around the room and noticed her towel was just dumped in a pile on the floor on the floor next to the closet. I just sat next to her, trying to get her to wake up while I waited for the paramedics. I'm afraid that's as much as I know and can tell You."

"You said the patio do7 you opened them before you left?"

"Yes, sir, they were open when I got back, and no, they were still locked from the night before. when I went out for a run, I used the front door."

" Mr Bongiovi, how long have you known Miss Ross for?"

"Please call me Jon; it's been just over a week. We met due to an error by the leasing agent, and she had read the wrong two weeks and said they were free. So, we decided to share the house, and our relationship developed from there."

"We spoke to the nurses and the paramedics, and they said you called her your Fiancé. Is that correct?"

"Yes, She is my fiance, I.. it was a spur of the moment decision when something feels right, sometimes you just have to go for it."

"Wow, a week it's not long, but what is life without a little risk." one of the officers said, and I nodded my head at him.

"Ok, we will need access to the house to collect all evidence. We will at some point need you to go through the house and make a list of anything missing."

"That's fine, and I have the keys with me." So, I handed the police the spare keys to my house.

"Thank you, Mr Bongiovi, and I hope she wakes up very soon."

"Thank you and me to sir, me too."

I leave the small room and walk back towards Cori's room; as I walk back in, I look over at her, and it's like I got sucker-punched in the gut with the sight of her lying there in the bed, wires, and tubes coming out of and leading to so many machines, she looks so small and helpless. I take a seat next to her bed and gently take hold of her hand, with no tubes coming out of it.

"I'm back, baby, still not wanting to wake up yet huh. You sure are having a lazy day today, aren't Ya? Please, baby, wake up," I whisper the last part, my emotions catching up with me. I can feel the tears pricking my eyes and the stabbing pain in my chest; I lay my head down on her hand and let the sobs tear through me.

Cori's POV

"Jonny, I'm still here. I can hear you. God, I wish you could hear me, I'm trying so hard to wake up, but I can't." you reply to him in your head.

Everything is black, and you can't even see your hand in front of your face. You feel like you are floating in a black abyss; there are no signs of light anywhere. It's like you are trapped in your body with a blindfold on.

"What the fuck is happening to me? Why can't I wake up?" you scream. Then, you begin to cry; the more the tears fall, the more your heartaches.

"You're not strong enough yet, little one; you need more time to heal." A strange males voice came from the darkness.

"Who the Fuck is that? Where are you?" You shout out into the inky blackness holding your chest as it scared the bejesus out of you.

"You don't need to see who I am, little one; know I'm here looking after you. You are not on your own, and please, can you cease with the foul language? It's rather vulgar and off-putting," he replied

"Look here, mister, and I don't care who you are. I want you to prove to me I'm not on my own, show me who the fuck you are, and no, I will not cease with the language. If you cant show me who you are, why should I do what you ask?" You defiantly answer back.

You are just floating around in the dark vortex, waiting for god knows how long, with no response from whoever the disembodied voice came from. You are just about to give up and resign yourself to sitting in the darkness on your own. Then, suddenly you see the light coming closer to you; the inky black begins to bleed away from the light. You rub your eyes, your eyes adjusting to the light again. Standing tall in front of you is a well-dressed man in a three-piece suit and tie.

"Who are you? Are you the one I was talking to?"

"Yes, little one, I am your guardian angel, and to answer your question. I have been with you all your life. You know you are not an easy person," he says with a smile and a light chuckle.

"Well, thanks a lot, but I need to know whether I will wake up again? Will I get to see Jon again?"

"Patience, little one, yes, you will wake up again. But you are not yet strong enough yet; You took one heck of a whack to the head."

"You're telling me, mate; my head is throbbing badly. Where am I?"

" Can you please, stop calling me mate? It isn't very pleasant. You're in the in-between, caught in neither here nor there. Hence why you can still hear and feel your body."

"Oh ok, well, I can safely say it sucks being in the 'in-between'. However, it would help if you guys would consider getting some lights in there to break up the doom and gloom. Do you have a name?"

"I'll pass on that decorating tip, little one. I do have a name, yes."

"And what would that be?"

"Why do you need to know what my name is, little one?"

"So I know who I am talking to; Plus, it's rather rude to speak to someone and not know their name."

"I do apologise, little one, for being rude. But, you see, no one ever asks my name. So I became used to not giving it out. So, my name is George."

"Well, George, I am Cori, but I guess you already knew that. It's lovely to make your acquaintance." You shake hands with George and continue talking for a while. He's a lovely man/angel.
