Jons POV

I must have dozed off; I woke up with a blanket draped over my shoulders and a water bottle upon the table.

"Hey, baby, sorry I don't know how to deal with all of this; it's an emotional rollercoaster, it's so hard. I'm so fucking angry, baby; why would anyone do this to you? I'm angry you won't wake up; please wake up, Babygirl. I'm frustrated I can't help; I feel so fucking helpless, I'm sad, and I'm confused by it all. Come on, Cori, keep your promise and don't leave me" I look up at her face, but nothing twitches, no movement.

I take her hand that's closest to me and place it next to my cheek, rubbing her soft skin against my cheek, sending some comfort to me. I pulled my chair closer to the bed, laid my head gently on her chest, and listened to her heartbeat's soft thrum, lulling me into a relaxed state; I closed my eyes and listened to it beating softly.

I open my eyes and look around, and I'm outside, lots of wildflowers in many different colours blowing in the gentle breeze. A mix of different scents wafting through the air, the sky is bright blue no a cloud can be seen, with the sun up high, the feeling of the heat from the sun warming my skin, and it feels nice.

"Jonny", I hear my name softly filtering through the breeze, but I know that voice. I spin around, looking to see if I can see the person the angelic voice belongs to, my heart beginning to race with excitement. But, as I turn around and around, I see no one, thinking I must have imagined her voice.

"Baby, where are you? Please, I need to see you." I ask with trepidation.

A tap on my shoulder makes me look round, and there she is, stood in front of me, dressed in a white knee-length dress, her bright red hair blowing freely in the breeze. Her eyes are open and sparkle in the sun god, those eyes, I don't want to live never seeing those eyes again—a happy, contented smile upon her lips. My breath hitches in my throat, her beauty astounds me, and at this moment, even more so, I cannot bring myself to look away from her. I'm caught in a trance I never want to wake up from.

"Jonny baby, I'm sorry I was never going to leave you; I would fight tooth and nail to get back to you. But, I am ok, baby. I'm just healing; I need a little more time. But, I promise no more scares."

"Baby, it's so good to see you. Please come back. I'm not going anywhere, I promise."

She looks at me, smiles, and then jumps into my arms, wrapping her body around mine. We hugged and kissed like it was the first time we did and the last time we would.

"I've Gotta go now, baby but know I'm listening to you. I can hear everything you say." she climbs down from my arms and steps back from me; already, my arms feel empty.

"I love you, baby, always and forever, honey. I'll be back soon, baby."

"I love you to Cori, always and forever, Babygirl.

I stare at her, and she slowly dissipates in front of me. I jerk awake and look at my baby lying there in the hospital bed, and tears prick my eyes again.

"I got you, baby. I'm right here" I kissed over her heart, laid my head back down, and fell into a dreamless sleep.

"Jon, sweetie, it's morning. I've brought you some breakfast and a coffee; you look like you need it," Lizzie said lightly, shaking me awake.

"Ah, good morning Lizzie, oh thank you. You are an angel, and yes, coffee is needed."

"There is a shower down the hall; just ask the nurses they will help you with anything you need."

I nod and hug her; I have found these hugs are like a motherly comfort, and I need that right now. I go back to my chair, eat my breakfast, and enjoy my cup of coffee. I sit back and switch on the little tv in the corner. I flick through the channels to see what is on and settle on some old TV show reruns.

After a few episodes, I stand up and pop back and stretch out my crumpled body. I decide to get out of the room for a while feel like I've never left that room. I wander down the corridors and find the little gift shop they have. I bought some chocolates for the nurses and some snacks for me for later as I saw there was a western film on. I grab a coffee from the vending machine and make my way back to Cori.

I spoke to one of the nurses about helping get Cori cleaned up a bit, but I'm worried about the tubes and the wires. Finally, she agrees with me and gets some stuff to help clean her up a little. I give the nurses their chocolates, and they are taken aback by the gesture, and all come and hug me.

"Lizzie, can I speak to you in a little while? Is that ok?"

"Of course, Jon, I've got a few rounds to make and some paperwork, but I will pop in when I'm finished. Is that ok?" I nod my head yes and continue to Cori's room,

The nurse pulls back Cori's blankets to get her ready to get a wash. I noticed bruises all over her body, and they definitely weren't there before, I know I didn't cause them, so I asked the nurse, and she said it was unlikely that they were caused in the hospital. She left the room to go get a form and another nurse to document the bruises. They got to work counting them and taking photos for evidence. They finished what they were doing, and then Jane helped me to finish cleaning Cori up; we put on a new gown. I sit next to the bed and softly brush the ends of her hair; I sit and twirl her around my fingers, just looking over her beautiful face wishing those eyes would open.

"Hey there, my pretty lady, we got you all cleaned up now hope it's made you feel a bit better. How's about my gorgeous fiancé opens those beautiful chocolate eyes and take my breath away?" You wait for a few minutes and nothing.

"Guess not today then beautiful, baby come on, wake up, this silence is killing me, I know you said you need more time, but baby please" I turn away from the bed, I can't bear it, this loneliness is worse than being on my own.

A knock on the door breaks me out of my reverie. "Jon, the police are here; they want to talk to you."

"Ok, thank you, I'm coming now."

"Baby, I Gotta go talk to the police; I'll be back soon, honey. I love you" I give her cheek a quick peck before walking out the door.

"Mr Bongiovi, nice to see you again. We have some information on the case. Take a seat."

"Thanks, call me Jon, please. What information have you got?"

"Well, we have ascertained that there was a break-in; they managed to open the patio door lock from outside. We are not sure how many accomplices there were. But it seems that whoever these guys are, they have been hitting people's homes with money all over the island. Unfortunately, Miss Ross has been the only victim of assault in these break-ins. They seem to case the houses making sure no one is in; they must have seen you leave and thought the house was empty and struck. I'm sure we will know more once Miss Ross wakes up."

"Have you received the report of the bruises all over her body? We only found them earlier today, and the nurses took photos and filled in some forms."

"Yes, we have just spoken with the nurses and took copies for filing the report. Unless you have anything else to add, that's all we have for today."

"Ok, thank you, sir, and thank you for your work on this case."

As I walk back to the room, I decide to stop at the nurse's station and chat with them. It's nice speaking to people and them talking back to you. After half hour, I go back to the room. I begin to feel bad for leaving Cori on her own.

"Hi, pretty lady, sorry I took so long. I got chatting to the nurses; no, I didn't chat them up before you say anything, your the only weirdo that I have eyes for. So no news from the police yet; we need you to wake up and see what you remember."
