Prepare yourself, this is the second to last chapter (the last one being the epilogue). This made me feel all types of emotions but I listened to a lot of Conan Gray while writing lmao.

TW: mentions of blood, hospital

George passed out before they arrived at the hospital. While it was frightening for Dream, it meant that he wasn't feeling the pain or seeing just how much blood there was.

"Can't you go any faster?" he spoke impatiently at Sapnap, who was focused on the road.

"I'm doing my fucking best, calm down. I'm already going over the limit and I don't want to be pulled over right now," Sapnap replied, stressed by the situation.

It wasn't long before they reached the hospital, but it felt like a lifetime. Karl dashed off inside while Dream and Sapnap heaved George out to carry him with his leg elevated right after parking messily.

Soon, there were nurses everywhere. George was lowered onto a bed and pushed off somewhere, leaving Dream to fill in his details and just sit outside, his leg bouncing in anticipation.

"Hey, man," Sapnap said calmly, taking a seat beside Dream, Karl placing himself on his lap. "You good?"

"Do I look fucking good right now?" Dream replied curtly. It was true. His face was red and puffy, his lips were swollen from biting and his hoodie was drenched in the blood of his lover.

"Jesus, sorry for asking," Sapnap sassed, earning a punch to the shoulder from Karl.

"You better sort that unsympathetic attitude, mister. I know damn well how you'd feel if it were me in there so save your cheeky tone for when it's necessary," Karl declared, prodding Sapnap's shoulder lightly.

"I know it's not the time, but that was so hot," Sapnap smirked. "OW!" He'd been punched again and met with Karl's scrunched up and pouty face.

Dream watched the two bicker and smiled. They were in fact very cute.

They were interrupted by a nurse coming out of what seemed to be an operating theatre, making the three sit up to attention, all anxious, even Sapnap, as to what she would say.

"Hi," she said but they all stayed silent, waiting. "So your friend's stability is uncertain. He lost a lot of blood so he had to have a transfusion, which was successful. And we had to put pins in his leg since the bone was damaged severely. You'll be notified of any updates that we get, so you can stay here as long as you want."

The three hitmen all breathed out a sigh of relief. Sure, George wouldn't be walking for a long time, and he wasn't even securely alive, but at least he was and didn't have to have it amputated or something like that. They all knew from experience that that was generous after an encounter with Wilbur.

The nurse disappeared back inside and soon returned, accompanied by a doctor who was pushing the bed towards the ward where George would stay. Dream couldn't help but notice how much paler he was, although his face seemed relaxed and peaceful, a heavy contrast to the last time he'd been awake.

"Well, now we can relax," Sapnap announced, leaning back in his chair, Karl following suit. Dream narrowed his eyes at them

"Wait, you're not leaving?"

"Nope. Wilbur's gonna be pissed so we might as well, stay with you until he cools off," Karl explained, resting his head on Sapnap's shoulder.

Eventually, Dream fell into a deep slumber. By this point, it was severely early in the morning and he could not, for the life of him, keep his eyes awake.
